I was watching this show and they were mining salt for road use. It didn't look very sanitary. (How they were going about it). So I was wondering is table salt sanitized in some way while it is being processed?

I don't think the salt is santized.

Depending upon the method, a brine solution can be boiled and the liquid evaporated, a brine solution can by sun dried or salt can be mined.

I doubt that you really need to worry about bacteria with salt.
The salt itself will destroy bacteria since salt draws out any moisture in the bacteria.

For bacteria to be viable, you need moisture, a nice enviroment and food. With salt, you don't have any of those items needed for bacteria.

Any mining operations has a certain amount of dirt. Road salt is one product, but table salt is produced using a totally different method.

It all starts at the mine, but somewhere along the way, it gets better.

It is like your steak, in its original form most steaks are not very clean, check the cattle pens.

Same with drinking water, it has to be treated most times.

Yes, food grade salt has been cleaned. Usually this is done by dissolving it in water, then processing the brine to clean it and finally evaporating the water to leave pure salt.
