People use God as an excuse for ignorance.
It is easier to be mean, hurtful and biased when you believe that God is on your side.
They used this excuse to justify murder and slavery for countless centuries. "You are inferior in God's eyes, therefore I have the right to abuse you."
It's sad.

Well, some use Him as an excuse for why they ring your doorbell EVERY DAY to"witness the gospel" and to get in your business when any rational person would stay out of it.
Another excuseis that He wants them to commit certain acts, like certain sects of the Mormons (not all, I am sure) that the men marry the girls (children, aged 12+) so that they wll nt go to hell for "lust" and other such things.
There are also the excuses for murder, as in the Holy War when King Richard (?) killed thousands of pagans in the name of God.
Or when the Salem witch trials were going on.
