If you believe the Bible, God does intervene in human affairs. So the question "Why does a good God allow evil to exist?" is a valid one. Of course, "evil" is relative and subjective. How do you suppose the invading army of Israel appeared to the innocent children of Jericho?
The bedrock fact is that if you accept "God" as portrayed in the Bible, then you accept a God who plays favorites, a racist God, a bigoted God, an unfair and inhumane God - the tribal war god of savages.

The premise is incorrect. Since there is no reason to suppose that god even exists, let alone has commanded anything, there is no reason to suppose any sort of interference.

God so orders the affairs of men as he knows whose hearts are ordered after him. War is not God's plan but allows wicked men who heart is against God to find their end. God has a timing of grace and a time of judgement and when people who have been given the time to turn to him and refuse, then comes time for them to be judged..

Crackpots throughout time have used the big G to justify wars, torture, terrorism, discrimination and even slavery.
Even Hitler told his countrymen he was doing god's will.

The first war was in Heaven when God and his angel fought against Lucifer and his angel, he then was thrown out of heaven because evil was found in him, pride

The word "interfere" is difficult to interpret... it is very subjective. He does inspire, influence, and reveal Himself to us, but ultimately we choose what we do...
God doesn't interfere because humans have Free Will. We have the ability to make our own decisions, good or bad.

Well, obviously He actually conversed with the Israelites, but as far as I know, He isn't conversing with anyone right now. I'm pretty darn sure He's not telling bin Laden to murder people and didn't have any direct link to Bush to tell him to go to war.
