i have a tree in my back yard, but i dont know what kind it is.
the leaves have like 3 sections to it, and its sort of like a little jaggedy on each section, that sorta looks like a mountain. if u cant help me tell what type of leaves they are or the type of treem then can u tell me where i can find out?
i think that this type of tree is VERY COMMON, but i just dont know what type. this might help also: there are fuzzy catterpillars that grow on it called "banded tussock moth catterpillars, or pale tussock moth catterpillars"
thanx.
also, if u need more info, and since i cant post it here, please email me at sasha6321@yahoo.com
thanx.

Sounds like a maple to me. You could type in maple tree on google and look for yourself to see if thats what it is.

Try taking a leaf sample to a local nursery for identification.
Or try the biology dept. of a local school.
If you can find other examples of the tree in your neighborhood, knock on doors and ask.
Note also what the bark looks like.
I agree that the tree is probably a maple. Liquidamber is another possiblity.
The maples in my area (N. California) are currently dropping seeds that have "wings." That is, the seeds look like wingnuts and twirl when they fall.
The reference desk at your local library could also help you. Talk to the reference librarian directly and ask her about books which have tree identification.

It may be a sweetgum. Look up common trees in your area on a google search.
