No. Literally speaking, it means that God stopped creating. God doesn't feel fatigue.

There were six days of creation, the seventh day was a day of rest. This of course is not because God was tired - it was to teach us by example, that we are to work six day and rest on one day. In other words God gives us commands by direct command and by approved example - God resting on the 7th day was a model for us to follow.
Interesting enough the Christian Sabbath in the New Testament was also taught by example. In John 20:19 & John 20:26 the apostles assembled for worship. Just as they gathered on the first day of the week for worship, so do we.

The truth is that according to the bible, God rested on the seventh day because he had finished his work. Does this make sense? I don't know. If the world was complete, why are there still problems in the world? Man's free will? Okay. So who cares? I could care if I was worried that I didn't have free will, or that I wanted a loving God to exist while my free will was uninfringed, I guess that would be a good thing. Do I need it in my life? Well, I already have it, so that's a moot point. Do I need to think about it? I could. It's my choice. Why do I think about it? I don't know, because it's cool, because it's interesting to think of the origin of all things as it coincides with the things that people talk about and think about. I guess it is really not that important, but as a practice of wisdom it is extremely important because we can train ourselves to be happy no matter what, no matter how fortune or state of mind, our location, our presence or who likes us or not. We become invincible because nothing can harm us, our minds are strengthened by truth and wisdom, and that is good. Other than that, why do I like to think about things like that? I don't know, I guess because I'd rather think of something intelligent than non-intelligent, something truthful instead of something non-truthful. Maybe this has something to do with my instincts or genes, or maybe my own personal choice. What in me decides that love or truth is a good thing? I suppose it's because I like those things. I like being alive, I like feeling good and I like being happy. I like things that I like, I like imagining and using my intelligence. It is good.

We are still in the seventh day of his rest period. by the end of the week the earth will be filled with righteous people and he will have the paradise earth that was his purpose in the beginning. Man did not change his purpose, it just took longer than he expected. Had to make a few changes.

There is supposed to be parallelism between days 1 and 4, 2 and 5, and 3 and 6. Day 7 was an attempt to justify the weekly lunar festival the Jews called the 'Sabbath.'
The seven day time period was taken from the fact that the person who wrote the poem (which was, by the way, a polemic against Babylonian mythology, not an actual attempt at history) already followed a seven day week, which was taken from the lunar cycle.

The word used for "rest" means "to cease," "to stop." God ceased because he was done and pleased with Creation. New Testament writers also point out that he was setting an example for us to follow--a balance, a rhythm in our lives--6 days to work and one day to stop, reflect, and give back to God.

God says we all need rest, time to rest and reflect and to calm ourselves and the thoughts that run thru our mind from our daily routines.
Even God rested, but God never gets tired. He is almighty God.
But time to rest and reflect is always good. and to focus on only good things of God and all He coes for us all, and the beauty He makes all around us to just ENJOY.

It's an example that we are to follow. He is saying we need to rest one day a week. He designed our bodies and he know best what they need.

You have a limited view of God. He rested because His work was finished, my friend.
