Well, never work more than 3 straight hours, it'll turn out pretty bad. If you work for 3 hours you can take a 1 hour break before continuing, and if you work less than that, then your break should be shorter so you won't lose time or ideas.
Don't drink coffee or tea, they actually overload your brain and make it even harder to concentrate on your work than thinking of having a break.
Don't work heavily more than total of 9 hours a day (excluding break time)..
Always keep yourself organized, keep everything you need in your reach and don't leave your papers all over your place cause watching a mess makes your brain go messy as well.
If you have more than one day to finish your work, make a simple schedule for your work that includes tasks, date, starting time, and fininshing time. This way you can keep track of your work and be able to catch up if you become delayed for any reason.
Good luck :)

Take a 5 minute break every hour, plus a 15 minute break every four hours. Take a snack at that time, and make sure you drink, and stay hydrated.
If you get to where you are tired, can't concentrate, and your mind is wandering go out for a walk, and just walk, for a half hour.
If it gets late, and you've been up all day, and when you look at the work, and can't think at all, it's time for a nap, or sleep.
Better to start fresh in the morning, rather than push it past that point, as I find I always make mistakes, and only get 10% done of what I would do If i had some sleep.
I typically can do a page an hour, If I am taking my time, and really thinking about it.
Pace yourself, and allocate yourself enough time.
I've had periods when writing a screenplay or book that I worked solid for a week on 4 hours of sleep a day. After about a week of it, I just take 2 or 3 days off and do artwork, or go see a few movies or have a cookout or something.

Sometimes i cant even go 5 mins. Like today for example. I guess once every hr I try to take a break. Sometimes when I study in huge blocks I find i have trouble picking it up the next day. Def pace yourself.

It depends on my mental state of mind before I start...
If I have had enough sleep, I can go for a few hours without stretching...
If I have had a rough day, every 15 minutes I need a break - but I keep plugging back in...
If I keep getting interupted, forget it!

A lot of study guides tell you that after 2 hours you should either switch to a new subject or take a break.. this keeps you from getting overwhelmed with one subject.

What you are experiencing is about normal. Give yourself between 5 and 15 minutes before you buckle back down again.
