Yes it is French.
"étoile" = star
une étoile - a star
l'étoile - the star
les étoiles - the stars
étoile/étoiles are both pronounced "eh - twahl" (in other words you don't sound the "s" in the plural)

I prefer Stella... or Estella/Estrella. I love Seren too. Etoile looks very tacky... and does not mean 'star' it is the word 'star'. Why just name a child a random word? You might as well name a child 'La Baguette' or 'Poisson'? It could work. No.

Yes, it is French.
It means STAR.
Written in lower case, you could have found 'étoilé' (from the same 'étoile') which is an adjective meaning 'starry', or 'crazed' if you are talking about glass.

Étoile is French for star. It´s a feminine word, so if you want to say one star you say: une étoile. The star is: l´étoile. If you want to say the stars you say: les étoiles.
