i understand that you don't believe in God and that is your choice, you have that right....I'm a Christian and i believe in God, but i'm not here to criticize you on your decision, i'm here to apologize for the way you have been treated by other christians. The way that we treat you is wrong, and there are many people who don't want to believe that, they think it's justified, but it's not, we as Christians claim to follow the bible, but when we treat you, or any other people with hate, and put you down, that is not living the way we believe God wants us to act....so i'm saying sorry for the way you have possibly been treated, no one's perfect and everyone messes up, Christians mess up a lot and have their opinions about things, i know, i do, but the way we go about things should change.....i apologize....

No apology is necessary in my case. I want everyone to believe what they want. It bothers me not what you believe as long as others are allowed to believe as they choose. Still, I enjoy debate. A rational discussion. An exchange of ideas, not an exchange of dogma. In order to debate, one must thoroughly understand the other's position. Christians do not seem to agree even among themselves which makes it difficult to discuss anything without offending someone. This being, in my opinion, the situation, I just enter the gut pit with both feet and have every expectation that the christian will do the same.

some may say why apologize but people generalize and stereotype I won't criticize an atheist but I will tell them what I think and leave it at that. If they accept then great if not that's fine too they don't have to accept our faith but they will have to accept their fate. Christians are not all the same which is sad because we all should be one.

Hello...I am a Christian too and I feel the same way you do. We can't put people down just because they believe in something different or push them to have the same beliefs we do and then expect them change.

It really looks like you're a good person, which is what makes your theism tragic.
There's a famous quote about good people generally doing good, evil people generally doing evil, but to get a good person to do evil - that requires religion.
It's strange that you would apologize, since your holy book claims we are all stupid and evil.

Although I'm not an Atheist, I've experienced a lot of the behaviors you have described. It took a lot of courage on your part to come forward and say what you have said. Thank you for your kindness. I wish more people were like you.

Thanks Kyla, apology accepted. I just wish that the rest of the people in your religion felt the same. But I guess you have to start somewhere. Maybe you will start a new movement within the christian religion of acceptence of others. Good luck an again, thank you.

While you apology is nice it is not the one that should be given... Those who treat other badly should apologize for themselves.
You should feel obligated to apologize for what other christians do.. What they say or do it their responsibility not yours...

That was very kind of you, but you don't need to apologize for "them". I understand that folks like you really DO exist (meaning that you do not try to force your beliefs on others), and for that I respect you even if I don't believe what you believe.

I by no means hate Christians in general, and I know a good number of nice ones. I don't generally insist that they apologize for their nutty peers.

It's obviously not your fault since I wouldn't imagine you participate. I don't feel it necessary for me to apologize to black people for slavery, just because I'm white. I had nothing to do with slavery.
I do find it nice that you practice what you preach, and I will accept your apology.
