Yes. It does no harm to spread a little friendliness and cheer, does it.

Too bad not alot of you guys round here where i live close to london. Most people here seem miserable, when some smile you can see its a fake smile. But hey its been a while since i got smiles from others. When i smile at people sometimes i get wierd looks like "what are you smiling about, be miserable and move on"

I think when some ladies smile at guys they take it like they are interested in them and vice-versa.

But its great if we're all smiling.

There's this guy I pass on the stairs every day and we always smile at each other, and there was a toddler in the bus that I grinned at... I think thats about it. I like it when you give a big grin to a stranger, I once mistook an old guy for my church minister and I gave him this huge smile and as I got closer I realised it wasn't him (I wasn't wearing my glasses!) but when I passed he said to his friend, "wasn't she lovely" and I felt all happy :-) (only a little embarrased)

Yes,
I smiled at a young blond lady today and she smiled back.

Strange how American and European manners differ....

Here in Spain it would be considered bizarre, suspicious or even rude to smile at someone you don't know.

For my part I wished we smiled more but then I don't want to be looked weird at.
