Wow! Who said HP can't make reliable computers! Your notebook was first produced in 2000! PIII up to 700MHz or celeron 550, 64 or 128MB RAM (Max512, PC100 SDRAM),14.1" or 15" XGA. Some even came out with Win95 - options were 95,98,2000. The original 18GB hard drive is still working (the other option was 5GB)! Basically if your system doesn't have at least 256MB of memory it won't take windows XP. Even if it has enough memory, it will be sloooowww on Windows XP.

Format the drive and install windows 2000 again. It's real simple.
If you don't own windows 2000, your on it, as you can't buy it any more.

when you installed XP did it overwrite 2000 . do you have a windows 2000 disc. Pop it in and install it back.

You can reformat the entire hard drive and use the Win 2000 disc.
You will lose all data however.
Make sure you have the device drivers because you will need them.

U need a windows 2000 cd ,,, format ur pc ,, insall win 2000 from your new cd. thats all

Take it to a computer repair shop - NOT pc world - and let them do it. Otherwise you could end up with no computer at all.
