in their defense, perhaps it is different Christians answering differently. I've never met two Christians who share the same views, every believer's version of Christianity differs from every other's if you ask enough questions. Which, of course, gets back to your question of why there's so much ambiguity in the instruction book. It would be one thing to be ambiguous in order to point out that it's ok to believe different things, but when believing the right way is the difference between heaven and hell you'd expect specificity.
The whole free will excuse never makes sense. They tell us that God can't interfere with free will, that's the whole point. Then they pray for, and see around them, miracles which are just the sort of intervention in free will that they claim God can't do.
They say God can't reveal himself or we'd all believe in him and there'd be no free will, he has to hide enough that belief in him takes faith. Yet they say that Satan and Adam both were directly in his presence and still chose wrong. So their argument is clearly wrong. Logical consistency isn't the strong point of the whole "God can't interfere with free will" line of thought.

I am a Christian and I understand your frustration. It seems as though the immature in the faith and those that lack knowledge and understanding of the Word of God, are those most often boldly proclaiming piety and purity from an ignorant place, though it is sincere.
I would love to answer your questions though. I ask you what is it that you feel is ambiguous about the Bible? I know that I thought as you did once, and after much time and research I found that there are absolutes in the Bible and real truths, non of which are ambiguous. I am more than open for some dialog.

Your difficulty in understanding the Bible has to do with the fact you are turning to the wrong source.
In the days of Israel, Isaiah was commissioned by God, to say in reference to the Jewish Priests:
"Those who are leading this people prove to be the ones causing them to wander; those who are being led are being confused." Isaiah 9:16
Jesus said something similar:
"Blind guides is what they are. If, then, a blind man guides a blind man, both will fall into a pit." Matthew 15:14
You'll note such comments were never said about Jesus.
Of him they said:
"He was teaching them as a person having authority, and not as their scribes." Matthew 7:29
You must find a source imitating Jesus and not the Jewish Pharisees.
It is not Christendom. She is a hypocritical abomination and the worst representative Christianity ever had.
Do not think christendom is Christianity.
According to Matthew 7:13,14 you should be seeking a smaller group, not the traditional, large denominations.

Unfortunately, church isn't a very good place to get the answer to your questions. Most christians are a poor source of information because they simply spat out bogus explinations and answers that seem foolish. That's not how it was meant to be. But anytime you involve mankind in anything they will mess it up. They have messed up church and messed up the bible. But only on the surface. After thousands of years the important things are all still there and God will never let those be taken away from you. The meaning still speaks to your heart.

God allowed the Bible to be amgiguous because he did not want it to be easy for people to figure things out.
Plus, the Bible was written by various humans, over 2000 years ago. It's like reading a good novel, only you cannot refer to the author's commentary.
Understanding God's teachings is like finishing a puzzle, only it takes your entire life, and when you die, you've still missed a few pieces.

Why are you so concerned for what is in the instruction book for Christians?... there is nothing for you in The Bible of The Christian Faith. It is not intended for you... Nothing in The Bible may be imposed upon those not of The Faith. If any one is trying to impose any thing in the Bible upon you then they are in violation of God's Word and Will... ignore them... Only those open to the leading of God through The Holy Spirit will find what God has for them in The Bible... and that clearly dose not include you... so why worry about it so much?

Nope, gay human beings have been given married and the the remainder of society went on no longer worrying approximately it. Sexuality isn't a slippery slope. human beings do no longer initiate gay then ultimately get dragged down a spiral of desirous to marry canines or raping young ones or enticing in sodomy with a dildo-powered streetlight.

Ha ha! Don't get me started :-) Their answers are quite entertaining if you look at it that way.
Did you read the question on YA this morning from a guy who pointed out contradiction after contradiction in the Bible and the lame answers people gave him. Whatever, you just gotta laugh!

No more slippery then your logic.
Honestly man is pretty good an screwing up their logic, regardless of what they believe in.
And honestly there is a difference between capability and desire. People who take the free will track don't say he can't do it, they say he doesn't want to do it.
But hey it's not as fun if you are not swimming in that vat of margarine yourself.
