Too much honesty? - no such thing.

Too Much Information? - yes, there is such a thing.

I don't think it is important to the relationship to survive though if one of the people in the partnership thinks it is - there has to be an honest discussion about it. I think it is a mistake to discuss past relationships with a current partner. People do it in the guise of honesty but I just see the information used to judge the current relationship, the judge the individual or to judge the previous partner..................and is it really important now, here, with this person?????????

I believe it is a ruse and it is used as a "standard" to judge all else about a person. Don't get me wrong, please, I am not dissing complete honesty. What I hope people do is ask themselves "WHY" it is important to them. Nothing about a healthy partnership (in my humble opinion) is gained by a complete disclosure of who I was 5, 10, 15, 20 years ago. Human beings, hopefully, learn, adapt and evolve.

Good question!!!!!!!!

That's a tricky point. I dont' believe in lying, but there are sometimes issues that probably shouldn't be brought out in the open prematurely.

Someone may judge you for something you did in the past, if they find out early in a relationship, whereas after they've gotten to know and care about you, it would be less of an issue.

Really depends on the situation as to when to address something that might cause an issue...

yes. there is too much honesty. but having the wisdom to discern between what you don't feel like disclosing but should and what you don't need to tell is the difficult part. I don't tell my boyfriend how much I spend on my hair. He doesn't tell me how much he spends on concert tickets. We keep our accounts seperate for that purpose. But if I cheated on him, I would HAVE to tell him. And if I ran over his dog- again a time for honesty. But each couple is different. You have to talk about these things. I don't tell mine about ppl hitting on me and he affords me the same courtesy, because we've agreed on it. sorry this is getting to be the longest run on stntance ever. lol

There sure is! I don't know about men, but some women walk into relationships and just spill their entire pasts, and then wonder why the guy takes off. Your partner doesn't need to know that you got drunk in Cabo and slept with three pirates in one night....odds are, he doesn't want to know that kind of stuff, unless it's going to affect him (STD for example) There is a system of disclosing information with your partner: If the information affects your partner's health, happiness, and wellbeing or your relationship directly it should be disclosed. If it doesn't, keep your mouth shut.

very important because they might lie to you about what they were doing where they were and who they were with so i'd be honest about everything even when you don't want to tell cause if you really love someone you could lose them by not telling the truth

oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practise to deceive.
why would you want to hide anything in your relationship? being open and honest and being accepted for it by your love is so gratifying!!
and i personally think it's the most important foundation for trust.

no I dont believe you can be too honest in a relationship. You and your partner need to be honest about everything . dont start out with secrets it will end in disaster if you do . good luck .

it is not a must. sometimes it is better choice not to know everything, cause it creates extra complicacy. but, most important thing is to be honest to self.
