my roommates dog trembles and pants like she is freaking out most of the day. At first i thought she was just really timid because she avoids me and my roommate all the time and i thought she shook because she was scared of the new place. but we moved two months ago and she comes to me now and lays with me but she still shakes and pants way more than any dog ive ever owned to seen. its like she is having a panic attack or something.. im going to take her to the vet to be sure shes alright.. but has anyone ever heard of this

This might be a stupid idea but.. is the AC too high? maybe shes cold? I know some dogs that shake when they are cold..

but yeah i would suggest bringing her to the vet... or at least calling and explaining the situation....

It could be that she is just really timid, especially if she was a abused dog. but there are numerous medical conditions that can cause it as well, so I would take her to the vet and get blood work done. some of the conditions can be mental anxiety (I have a dog like that right now) to something more serous like a heart condition (which I have another dog right now she has a heart condition and she shakes and pants) to epilepsy. once you rule out any medical condition you can take her to a dog trainer in your area and ask them for advise on how to deal with mental issues like being timid

I don't know yes chihuahuas tremble put it doesn't explain teh panting.
There are dogs such as chihuahuas that will pick it's owner and some will not except the ones in the house.
I do strongly suggest getting her to the vets.
Good Luck

Taking her to the vet is the first thing to do. It will help you to know if she is physically okay. The vet can probably also tell you if this is a breed trait, or if she is too cold or just genuinely nervous. It is the best place to start.

is she a chihuahua? i can't think of any other dog that trembles like that. they do that naturally, could be nerves and could be that it's cold. but you're also saying she pants alot. ask your roommate, he/she may know what the deal is.

Either she is a really fragile dog, or you should take her to the vet. It doesn't sound serious, but still.
