Capital punishment would be a little extreme unless you are talking about our elected officials who tried to shove the shamnesty down our throats. Even then I am not sure they deserve that. Jail, yes. Aiding and abetting illegal aliens is a crime under the 1986 law and aiding and abetting is just what those in favor of shamnesty were proposing.

The real solution is enforcing the laws that are on the books and to restore common sense government. We pass laws to curb illegal immigration then allow our government agencies to adopt policies and procedures to negate them.

Case in point: The Border Patrols supposed non pursuit policy. If the illegal runs away from you, let him. How stupid is that. Granting birthright citizenship to the offspring of illegal aliens despite what the 14th amendment says and then quoting the 14th amendment as justification. That is just downright perverted.

The simple solution is to pass simple common sense legislation that tackles one problem at a time. We do not need to overcomplicate it by adding thousands of amendments to the point whare no one knows what it says and how to interpret it.

In our nation's past, people have immigrated to our country to escape religious or political persecution. These legal immigrants desired to be Americans. Most, if not all, illegals who are entering our country are doing so for economic reasons and it appears that many of those have no desire to give up their heritage or learn our language. The solutions are fairly simple to identify, but are at current funding levels, difficult to apply in practice. (1) First, we should enforce the laws against employers who hire illegals. Deport those workers that do not have doucmentation and fine the employer. Without jobs, the primary motivation for illegal immigration is gone. (2) Secondly, we need to be serious about strengthening our borders with more guards. While building a fence or other physical barrier may show evidence to an impatient and disgruntled public that the government is doing something to combat the problem, history has shown that there are no fortifications that cannot be over come. The Maginot Line constructed by the French between WWI and WWII is a good example; It did not repel the Germans from invading. (3) Thirdly, to accomplish our goals, we need to fully fund our Department of Immigrantion and Naturalization to adequately address this important issue. (4) We also need to improve the process for legal immigration. Many of the illegals could be legal immigrants if the process were better.

Capital Punishment should be reserved for Captial Crime. While crossing our borders without a passport or visa is a crime, it is not a capital crime. In persuing this punishment, you also have to consider the costs for trials, appeals, and incarceration for these people. Extermination is often an over-simplified solution to a complex problem where the consequences have not been fully considered. I would chose expeditious deportation for illegals.

There needs to be some sort of detainment system along our borders. When an immigrant is caught entering our country illegally, they need to be detained, documented and held for 3 months. The 3 months holding with the bare minimum of food and shelter would make them think twice about re-entering and at the same time prevent them from being able to send money back home, which we all know, allows them to bring more family to our country illegally. When they realize that the risk is not benefiting them, they will think twice before attempting to re-enter.

dear asshole... shooting inocent people is not a smart solution, your country rubbed half of the world and today you have a better economy, and this "illigal immigrants" jast trying to solve their finance problems, doing dirty jobs and working long hours, thing that you,d never do. So, think , if you able to, then make your "virdict", use your brain , if you have, then get the gun in your hands,,,
Hope you had a full breakfast with cream cake on top... enjoy your life, not kill a human , that,s not right....

We actually enforce the laws we have on the books for starters. Then we secure our borders. When we come across people that are here illegally, we pack them up and send them back to where they came from. I do not understand why this has to be a complicated issue. We don't need new laws, we just need to enforce what is already in the books.

The Wall Street Journal points out that the areas with high rates of illegal immigration are, in fact, the areas of our country experiencing the strongest local economies.

They're illegal? That's because the bureaucracy in our immigration offices is failing to process paperwork in a reasonable amount of time. In many areas of the country, it can take 8 months to get a 6-month extension processed for a green card.

Unlike earlier waves of immigrants, the Mexicans are taking the initiative to start companies and create their own jobs. You can't say that about the Irish, for instance. Very few of them bothered to accept free land and homestead a farm. Instead, they took government jobs, formed bands of thugs who used violence to extort money, and a few worked on the railroad. No wonder the British government paid almost all the cost of transporting them to the US; they were glad to get rid of them.

The answer? Issue driver's licenses to immigrants so we can keep track of them. Issue social security numbers to them, so they can build an earnings record for retirement. If they establish a business that employs themselves for five years, give the owner and his family citizenship - and if he's hired other immigrants, give them and their families citizenship after five years, too.

Oh, and one more thing? Send a bunch of those immigrants to Pennsylvania. We have a bunch of kids here, too lazy to work, who are continuing to live with their parents into their late 20s and beyond. The white american population can't even bother to make enough babies to reproduce themselves. That's *really* lazy. We could *use* some Mexicans who want to hustle to get ahead - and to serve as role models for our slackers.

Capital punishment? Dubya, perhaps - but make sure Cheney is standing in line *ahead* of him.

I don't think that we will ever be able to solve this problem. Remember that drug tunnel they found underground with running electricity, and we were footing the bill for that too.

No need to resort to Bigotry, we could just introduce I.D cards and temporarily close the door on Asylum as we have taken our fair share of Immigrants that should really be residing on the European Mainland(The gateway to UK)

I dont think capital punishment is quite fitting. These people are desperate to leave their home countries, not desperate criminals. Close the borders and make them more secure.
