I want to travel somewhere in the world and do something for others. Like help the poor or people in need. Willing to go anywhere, and any ideas would help. Lots of info would be good also.

Well, it seems like kind of a generic answer, but no one's mentioned it so far. Have you looked into joining the Peace Corps or Habitat for Humanity? Both would offer you a chance to go to new and interesting places and help people in need. I have a friend who will be starting a year of services with HfH in August and from what she's told me, it sounds like a great opportunity. If you're a student, or have student loans, sometimes programs like that offer tuition stipends at the end of your time with them. For example, my friend will be helping with construction in the areas that were damaged by Hurricane Katrina and will have her living expenses paid and get $5,000 to put toward her student loans at the end of a year. I would advise doing a lot of research on the internet and choosing something you know you'll enjoy. Good to know there are people out there that want to make a difference. Best of luck!

look up cross-cultural solutions, you can travel all the world for a cheap price and help kids. my friend did it and she loved it. i'm doing it next year. or look up the local marathons in your neighborhood. or..look up splashes of hope , you and a group of your friends can volunteer to paint a children's hospital room. look up momma's house also, it's a homeless shelter i think and you can do yard work for them. you can help out at your animal shelter or the hospital. look up soup kitchens and homeless shelters, nursing homes to see if you can help out. especially nursing homes also want peopel to come and talk with their residents. it's really easy help people in need.

go to google and type in humaitarian work. otherwise just help with the red cross in your area for now or maybe ask if they could direct you to somewhere else.
