Who, but a "fool", would say that 'our" Lord was telling US "not to Judge AT ALL"?
The whole of what Jesus was telling us: was for one not to JUDGE another on a matter unless one has cleaned up that same matter in ones own life; He further goes on to say that when we DO Judge, TO JUDGE RIGHTIOUSLY. He WAS NOT saying to NOT JUDGE AT ALL.
(Just for the record)

Jesus nor the Bible never said not to judge at all. It warns of hypocritical judgment. That part of Matthew has to be the most misunderstood verse in the Bible. Its like people dont read all of Matthew and just that one verse. In fact the Bible says that Christians are supposed to judge the sins of others and help them toward God. Ignoring the sins of others and not pointing them out IS a sin in itself.
Jesus also said "Judge not by appearance, but JUDGE with righteous judgment".

Well, you answered your question.
You're right that people don't read far enough on these passages. His point is hypocrisy, really. If you've got sin in your life for which you haven't seen fit to repent, then you cannot help another with his sin.
We are told to help one another, which would involve judging.
Matt 18:15 “Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.
Gal 6:1 Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.
The problem is when we condemn. We can't tell where that person's eternal resting place will (maybe they will repent long after our confrontation with them, etc) be and we don't know how their heart is. We can only point out sin in a loving way and help them get back on the narrow way that leads to life.
Someone here said don't judge because we assume wrong things. The Bible doesn't say this. If we go to that brother as it says in scripture with a spirit of gentleness to restore them, then we will find out the facts of the situation. Just because some assume things, then gossip rather than go directly to the person with the intention of restoring them, doesn't mean we shouldn't judge. If we go to the person with a spirit of gentleness and humility as the Bible teaches, then we won't have a problem, won't be a hypocrite, etc.

Yeppers...I just finished reading the entire new testament and this was one that confused me at first. "Judge not..." is a phrase I heard a lot growing up, but it wasn't until I read the entire NT, that I realized that God actually commands us to judge...in certain circumstances!
Personally, I think that means that we shouldn't judge non-Christians...that's not our job...our job is to show them the love of God, PERIOD! He reserves the legitimate right to judge those that choose not to accept him. Paul provides a detailed explanation in Romans 2 (the NIV makes it particularly clear why we shouldn't judge (condem) others.
However, in I Corinthians 5, Paul makes it clear that we ARE supposed to judge others that claim to be believers...that we should not tolerate sinful behavior of other believers because it can cause us (and others) to fall.
Basically, I think "judge not" refers to making judgements about another persons salvation...it is the Lord's place to decide whether or not someone accepted him AND what the consequences should be for not accepting him. But judging whether something is right or wrong, even to the extent of casting out someone that claims to be a brother but doesn't follow God's word...God wouldn't have given us a brain if he didn't want us to use it!

Of course NOT!! That cannot be!! Just five verses later Jesus says, "Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine" (Matthew 7:6). This command assumes the exercise of spiritual discernment. A few verses later Jesus said, "Beware of false prophets...You will know them by their fruits" (Matthew 7:15,16,20).
Again Jesus demands spiritual discernment. In Jesus' view it is not "judging" to conclude that someone is a false prophet.
That is probably the most mis-interpreted Scripture in the Bible!!!

Actually no... It was supposedly quoted Thou shalt not judge, that all judgements shall be made by god and his son in the kingdom of heaven...
Besides who gives a flying ****? Judge whoever the hell you want, your scriptures have never stopped you before... The difference is, people need to learn to grow up.
If we really wanted there are many things to pick the christian religion apart.. Why don't some of us? Because each to their own.

The Bible says that we aren't to judge. It also says that we will know other believers by their fruits. Ex. Are they patient, kind, loving etc. Now of course we are ALL human and we mess up and have bad days.

Sorry, but most Christians do not agree with your interpretation. Don't forget also "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Jesus is saying who are we to judge.

True - the beam and speck in your eye phrase says this
"first remove the beam from your own eye and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brothers eye"
But how can we ever know that we don't have a beam in our eye -it might be self deception if we think we don't have a beam in our eye
