I have had my Remington 700 Mountain Rifle 30-06 for over 20 years, my husband bought me a new Browning last year for Christmas and I still used my tried and true Remington this past season. I originally had an inexpensive Tasco scope that did a good enough job, but I saved up and bought a Leupold 3-9x 40mm a few years back. It was more expensive than most of the others (barring Zeiss of course), but it has turned out to be a fabulous choice. Crystal clear optics, easy to sight in and very forgiving of any bumps, shakes and rattles that would normally throw a scope off range. Spend the extra money, you will not regret it and you will also have a great scope that will last for generations.

I sold a rifle like that 8 years ago for $425. Today, I am guessing that a good price on a good used Remington is about $450 just for the rifle. The Leupold scope (used) in 4x is another $125 (going price on eBay). So, you are looking at about $550 to $600 for a good used rifle/scope package.

If your model 700 is pretty new, and in good condition, they can cost around $650-$750. And for the Leupold scope, they are very high quality, probably the best in America. The scope probably cost around $300-$400.
