I wonder if that show is an accurate representation of American Christianity or if it only speaks for a minority of Christians.

American Christianity is so huge and diverse I can't imagine that it would.

Catholics, JW, Seventh-day adventists, Mormons are believers in Christ and I can't imagine that 700 club speaks to their needs.

I also think they lost audiences after the 9/11 "God has removed his protection ...." debacle, as well as Robertson's financial ties to the Blood Diamond trade.

this is crazy advice, first what authhority does the person who called have over their brother to 'hand them over' - none! Secondly he implies the devil will end up controlling them and ordering them about, when in fact most people into the occult are very passionate about being in control of their own minds and choices, they would not be ordered about by God OR the devil! I conclude that Pat R is broadcasting gross misinformation and a product of the empty spirituality found on so called Christian TV, dismiss it immediately or after a long period of study.. but dismiss it you surely will along with all the other false and often evil teaching dressed up as truth on 'Christian TV'

No,
I am not saying anything on personalities or the work they do but as far as a representation of all American Christianity it is not.

My 90 year old Presbyterian grandma loves the700 Club. She shared with me how she helped pray a hurricane away from Norfolk Virginia coast years ago with the congregation of 700 club...Also my aunt who is from a Baptist church that doesn't believe in all the instant healing mess took my grandma to 700 Club live show...She got her back healed instantly just sitting in the audience. with my grandma.....The next Monday when my aunt went for xrays for her back surgery they found NOTHING there to operate on...The doctors asked my aunt where she had been that weekend...When she told them the 700 club...the doctors said they were not surprised ...The 700 club is kewl and like all shows you wont like everything but for the most part it's neat in my book....

This brain-dead piece of day-old rattlesnake poop has sucked up multi-millions for himself. Hey, real preachers and missionaries are devoting their lives to working for the poor, the disadvantaged, the homeless, drug addicts, the elderly, the disabled, abused children...and Pat the Rat's busy thinking up wacko pronouncements which have zip to do with the teachings of Jesus and a helluva lot to do with the anti-American fascist right-wingers whose votes our little man in the White House depended on. When he's gone and a decent man, or woman, is in the Oval Office, the Fundies and such Fundy heroes as Jimmy Swaggart, Pat Robinson, and Benny Hinn will, eventually, be exposed as the racist, homophobic, women-hating, redneck white trash they are.

Christians like?

It's a minority, but a vocal minority. On the Sunday Morning talk shows (hmm, irony), they often have Pat Robertson as a guest to offer "analysis."

He's the icon for the "religious right."

It doesn't speak for me. Like many religious organizations/televangelists/shows I think a lot of it is over the top and unnecessary.

I'm sure there are some.

As for this clergyman: I'd rather sit on the couch and knock out my teeth one-by-one with a ball-peen hammer for an hour than watch that schlock.

Which part, the news? Commentary? Testimonies? I don't agree with all the commentary, but overall I like the program and watch it as often as possible.
