A file on my desktop, right click doesn't have delete listed, and when I click it and press the delete key it says.

Destination Path Too Long
The file name(s) would be too long for the destination folder. You can shorten the file name and try again, or try a location that has a shorter path.
Problem is it wont let me edit the name either.
This is with Windows Vista Home Premium.

If you want to delete, can't you just right-click on it and delete?

What extension?
