I asked this question once before but didn't get any testimonies. Are there any out there?

I was delivered from prejudice by becoming friends with people who think differently form the way I do and by reading what groups I don't belong to really teach and say.

Codependency is the core of Christ social teaching. I wouldn't trade it for the whole world. I wish we were all more codependent.
Homophobia sort of just went away after being a Christian for a while. I have done things before I met Christ that were way worse then having sex with guys. So how could I look down on that?

I was raised racist and over the years I realized it was just ignorance and arrogance that fuel racism. It's just dumb.

Perhaps you didn't get good response since it's such a weird question. How are these things related? Delivered from? What does that mean? As in-- have you been a victim and now you're not or do you mean you're no longer of a certain mindset? I think people have a hard time answering when they don't really know what you're getting at.

What an odd question.

Did you know that there is really no such thing as homophobia?

Some people don't like people who act like jerks.
Some people don't like people who behave in an overtly gay manner.

Of course there is no jerkophobia and there is no homophobia. There should be no law or inclination to prohibit people from disliking others for behaving one way or another.

Lest anybody confuse behavior with race...anti-gay sentiment is in no way similar to racism.

I use to be really homophobic because as a kid my parents drilled into me their biasses. They taught me that if the homosexuals get too close to me they might rape me and use drugs and bran washing to turn me gay. I was legitimately terrified of gay people because as a kid I was certain that they were going to try to hurt me. There was always a story on TV about an adult molesting a kid and it only reinforced that fear. Then one day when I was about fifteen years old I found myself on my way home from a wild party after a Cubs game and had to go through the Boys town neighborhood. I was jumped by a guy on a bicycle with a utility knife who wanted my wallet. Having nothing on me I ran like hell screaming for help. Two guys driving by saw me and stopped to let me into their car to help me get away. Later I learned that they were a gay couple on their way home from the same game I came from. They gave me a whole lot to think about.
