I have a friend who was my past college teacher and she is about 10 years older than me. I really think she is a good person and I think I can learn things from her in life. We talk alot through email and have become friends. I am taking a class with her hubby next fall to get a chance to get to know him and be friends with both of them.
Since she is pregnant and about to have her baby any day now.. I emailed her and wished her the best in the hospital and told her I would be praying for her and her baby. I have given her a baby gift and all that and we have gone to lunch twice. But I kinda feel like she might forget about me when she has her baby and i dont want that cuz she is a good potential close friend. And i dont mean quit hanging out... i just mean emailing me every so often like usual... but i know i can still contact her through the school when it starts back up. And I have good intentions. Anyway... what do you think?

first, i think taking one of her husband's classes just to "get to know him" is kind of goofy. take the class b/c you like the subject or you may come off looking desparate. second, she will,no doubt, have little time when the babe arrives. not only for you but for everyone. she'll be in her own world for a time. give her some space. just for a while. i'm sure your friendship will survive. e-mail her on occasion or maybe send a congrats card. she'll get back to you when things settle down.

A baby takes up alot of time, especially with them midnight feedings. Let her know you're there for her and don't try to strike up a friendship with her husband. That would be a bad move on your part.

it may be hectic for the first few months so she may be space and need space and you just support her. im sure she wont forget you though.
