now people are asking how atheists impose on people: they constantly ridicule people who believe in god and call them idiots. they think that they only have the correct answers and everyone else to too blind or stupid to see it their way.

You know, I never discuss religion, aside from a few answers to some out there questions. I am an athiest, but I don't feel the need to justify why I am, nor condemn those who aren't-unless I am put down or told that I will suffer or be punished for my beliefs.

If whatever you believe answers your questions in life and keeps you on the path to being a morally good person, that's what spirituality is supposed to do. Neither one are right or wrong. No one will ever make this point.

And GOD on any document or in any anthem, etc. doesn't offend me. I was born into a country that allows me to believe what I want. The founding fathers set up a "moral code" based upon their beliefs of GOD. I find nothing at all wrong with it. I belief the Ten Commandments should be in our Courthouses. I don't believe they are offensive. What's wrong with practicing these commandments, no matter what your belief?

If you believe anything, you'll impose it on everyone you know. Say, you think Degrassi is an awesome TV show and they're having the most amazing episode next week. Sometimes without knowing it you might just starting imposing on people to watch it, just cause you're so excited about it. And that's true, no one should annoy you into doing something or act like a hypocrite. Sometimes it's their excitement and they dont understand that not everyone feels the same way.

I know you're not christian or atheist. But it would be interesting to know what you believe, what's your religion?

I'm sure that there are always some people who, in every group, that thinks that their ideas should be the law of the land. Sad, but true.

However, there is nothing in the "Atheist Code" or the "Atheist Book of Rules" that says that we have to spread the good news of atheism and save as many people as possilbe. That, IMHO, seem to be the difference between some Atheists and some Christains.

I don't have a problem with Christians talking about their religion, that's what their suppose to do according to the bible. What i have a problem with is nonchristians imposing their lifestyles on everyone else. With the logic that if you don't approve you should just move on or don't watch. Whatever the case may be. Why can't they take their own advise when religion is involved?

I've had more experience with Christians imposing their views than Atheists...I have several Atheist friends and most of my and my husband's family are Christians. I have yet to have one of my friends talk about their dis-beliefs over and over, yet I've had many of my family members talk about theirs and expect me to listen, learn, accept and return to the Christian life, which I was a strong part of for over 20 years.

I am most comfortable around my Atheist friends as well as many of the Atheists whom I know simply because they don't judge me, they don't pry, imply or otherwise feel it is their place or their duty, to steer me onto the 'right' path. They also never greet me with "So, have you found a Church to join yet?"

I've also seen first hand the many differences in how Christians vs Atheists see the world around them and by far I find the Atheists' slant on life usually much more serene, positive and hopeful than the Christians' views.

I know of no Atheists who have used 'fear' to instill belief in others, but of course I do not know ALL Atheists nor ALL Christians, so as with everything, there are the good and the bad in each. So far I've not met an Atheist who didn't impress me with their view of life and death tho. A Christian, not so much.

both do but its not"imposing"
its informing with the hope of people believeing....
atheist think they're right and Christians think they're right (which there is A LOT of evidence to support them)

but some say they are Christians that really aren't living it out

i guess you can't really tell the real from fake over the internet

but good luck with forming your opinions =]

God Bless

How many atheists do you know that claim currency should say "there are no gods"? What about the pledge? How many atheists try to prevent others from getting married? How many oppose medical progress?

Read Letter to a Christian Nation to understand how harmful religion is.

When it comes to religion, most people think their beliefs are the ONLY beliefs that are important and they feel a need to "convert" everybody to their side of the issue. I consider myself not a "religious" person, because no one seems to get it - their beliefs are half-baked and definitely not what God would approve of!

When was the last time that a couple of atheists came knocking on your door?

When did an atheist judge your character by your belief system?

When was the last time you saw an atheist carrying a sign around saying "The end of the world is not nigh! Be nice to each other!"
