I'm only 27 and have been on thyroxine for the 5yrs never felt any better. I can sleep all night and still feel tired, it's getting beyond it!! Very irritable, very little interest in sex the list goes on. Would like to know if there is any thing i can do/ add to the thyroine? blood test show normal levels but have never felt any different since taken it. thanks

Try going to a nutrionist. They will tell you specific foods to avoid, and to eat to help your thyroid condition. (This will also help your metabolism/weight)
There is also a good book called "Living well with Hypothyroidsm" that I would recommend

See if your doctor can up your medication or add cytomel to it.

Each person has their own normal so being in the normal range may not be good enough for you. That why maybe raising the dose might help, and may still leave you in the normal range. Raise it by 12.5 mcg and get tested 6-8 weeks later.

Cytomel (T3)is the more active thyroid hormone, normally your body converts T4 (levothyroxine) into T3, but some people have problems. I just added 5 mcg of cytomel and lowered my levothyroxine, and do have more energy but some difficulty sleeping.

Armour thyroid is another medication, it is natural made from pigs' thyroid.

You may need to switch doctors to get the care you need. I am on my 4th. I have my thyroid removed 3+ years ago, not 100% but getting closer.

I have been taking synthroid for about 10 years and feel great. I once changed medications and felt all of the symptoms you are describing. Have you tried switching medications?

My sister is using synthroid. Naturally there is something called the Thyroid Helper...it's on the internet about $20.00. Works pretty good for me.

My husband has hypothyroidism. Just remember to take your meds. If you're still feeling tired you may need to get a stronger dose. My husband has to take 200 mg a day. Just talk to your doctor.
