For those who don't know, he made statements to the effect of: "christians who are not catholic are not real christians".

And excommunication means kicked out of the church and religion.

And the pope is supposed to promote the church and its ideals- one of which is supposedly peace with other religions. This man who fought for hitler and was a nazi during ww2 seems to have a problem doing that.

to: simple man of god.

I like to stretch myself on occasion.

I get bored of answering the same questions by people who think they can learn to fight by watching a video and think that bruce lee is god despite never seeing any actual sparring footage of him.

And answering the same stuff "how do I lose wieght" in the fitness section is annoying too.

R&S at least has some variety.

I was stunned by the statement of this ex-hitlerjugend pope who thinks that only Catholics are true Christians. On the contrary,I think only true Christians are Orthodox ones.Proof:we don't have satanists in such large numbers like Catholic states,we don't have such large percent of atheists,we don't think being gay is alright (on the contrary),we don't listen to those satanistic-heavy metal-rock crap in such large numbers and we aren't so obsessed with Harry Potter and witchcraft like in the west.I always taught how weak is Catholic church when they let those disgusting satanist things be normal in everyday life, and I was stunned when I heard his statement.Of course he should be excommunicated.

excommunication is a concept contrived by the catholic church....man, catholic church, pope or otherwise cannot decide who or who doesn't go to hell.

the catholic church is largely based on paganism and teaches that you have to earn your way to heaven. Idol worship and praying to dead people is something that is specifically prohibited in God's Word but it's funny how Catholics take the word of man over God's.

On what grounds?

Here is the full text of the new document that states nothing new: http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/cfaith/documents/rc_con_cfaith_doc_20070629_responsa-quaestiones_en.html

Most Christian denominations believe that each of them is the fullest version of the Church of Christ.

While the Catholic Church also believes that she is "the highest exemplar" of the mystery that is the Church of Christ, she does not claim that non-Catholic Churches are not truly Christian. The Catholic Church teaches:

Furthermore, many elements of sanctification and of truth are found outside the visible confines of the Catholic Church: the written Word of God; the life of grace; faith, hope, and charity, with the other interior gifts of the Holy Spirit, as well as visible elements.

Christ's Spirit uses these Churches and ecclesial communities as means of salvation, whose power derives from the fullness of grace and truth that Christ has entrusted to the Catholic Church.

All these blessings come from Christ and lead to him.

For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 819: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt1sect2chpt3art9p3.htm#819

With love in Christ.

No, you are letting the news commentaries tell you what the document says instead of reading the actual document for yourself.

Here is a real quote from teh document:

It is possible, according to Catholic doctrine, to affirm correctly that the Church of Christ is present and operative in the churches and ecclesial Communities not yet fully in communion with the Catholic Church, on account of the elements of sanctification and truth that are present in them.[

It follows that these separated churches and Communities, though we believe they suffer from defects, are deprived neither of significance nor importance in the mystery of salvation. In fact the Spirit of Christ has not refrained from using them as instruments of salvation,

Not necessarily, but there is another option. You can do what I've done to popes for 40 years: Ignore them. They only speak for themselves and the church's patriarchy. Let them reinstitute Latin mass. It will only drive more people away. Except, maybe, Mel Gibson.

I am just glad to find out that all my Protestant friends and family members will be with me throughout eternity.

I was a bit worried that they were going to be separated from me and forced to spend eternity in heaven singing songs.

I'd say you should actually read the document and not the news reports...

I mean after all, how many other Christian sects, state that Catholics are not real christians, and are going to hell?

Why do you have issues when it is the other way around?
