In truth because African American gangsters are not shown the same way.
The underworld has rules and ways that are rarely shown. It is usually less violent and more uptight than it is shown and the italian mob has successfully been able(because of its race) to use its money to legitamize. African americans because of their race have hsitorically not been able to and thus the relationship to the underworld is misrepresented.
So, it could be done but I do not think iot would be done right or fairly so the protest from individuals within my communtiy are justified and last but not least.
in a world of images, no group wants to be presented constantly as underworlders,. mnay italian americans have problems with the robustness ofthe italian american mob character type. In truth very few in their community are mobsters but the image tells it different.
So the truth telling of it and the desire to have a more positive image are at least decent reasons for not showing african americans the same way. Though , to answer the question , my community can.
I imagine the entertainment firms feel the market for that is small or weak which is why it has not been shown

This is actually a queston posted in the wrong section, but here is your answer not all movies all the time show Italians as gangsters just like not all movies all the time show African Americans as gangsters. It is just sad when any movie has to focus on the negatives of any group of people and not try to make enough entertainment focusing on a group of peoples positive traits. This just goes to show you that some people feel there is a profit to be made from hate, ignorance and intolerance and they will and do. What we need to do is laugh them off and educate our children and young adults that life is tough and making your money the right way is the best way.

I've seen many a gangster film with blacks in it. I've seen many gangster films with British people in them. I've seen gangster films with French people, Chinese people, Japanese people, Greek people and Russian people. I have no problem with Italian gangster movies either, and I'm part Italian.
A movie is a movie. Just because it features a particular ethnic group, it doesn't mean that it's making a statement about all the members of that particular group.

Because Italians where first, and we're not gangsters. "Mafia" or "mafiosi" is a propaganda word against old family tradition. Old family traditions are that of respect, and disrespect goes against tradition and makes an Italian very angry.
They made this into the fake term "mafia".
And african americans took this dumb "gangster" idea and ran with it.
Even though we quit drivebys, car thefts, and liquor store robberies after 50s.
We learned not to act so obvious, they didn't.

There's a movies section you could post this question in, sheri. There is still a minority of African-Americans to use in movies, same as the under-represented Hispanic actors. Peter Falk is a rare example of a successful Hispanic actor.
