When converting the subnet mask 224 into binary are you dividing the numbers by 128, 64,32,etc? I'm kind of confused..

You know, no one subnets these days. I wasted my time learning this crap, too.

Assuming that your subnet is going to be 255.255.255.224, they you just convert that to binary.

11111111.11111111.11111111.11100000

Stupid Yahoo. Do this on one line:
11111111.11111111.
11111111.11100000
