Yes, we are. Try this:

Luke 12:56-57
56Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky. How is it that you don't know how to interpret this present time?

57"Why don't you judge for yourselves what is right?

Luke 19:22
"His master replied, 'I will judge you by your own words, you wicked servant!

John 5:30
By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.

John 8:16
But if I do judge, my decisions are right, because I am not alone. I stand with the Father, who sent me.

1 Corinthians 10:15
I speak to sensible people; judge for yourselves what I say.

Various places we are told to Judge things for ourselves. This was just a quick search, but you can do a search for yourself at Biblegateway.com for "judge", or the word "discern", and come up with pages and pages of scripture passages that would take up far too much room here.

Hope this helps...

One won't rightly discern the meaning of the Bible if the texts are pulled out of context of the whole Bible ,the whole of the Apostolic Tradition the Bible came from and the Church that interprets,applies and decides what is the Bible and what is not. 1 Cor11:2 ; 2 Thess15; 2 Thess3:6; Jn 21:25: 2 Pet1:20;

It that what you see in that verse?
2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

In this letter to Timothy Paul assumes that Timothy knows that the word of God is the truth. He is instructing Timothy to study so that others can see that he is approved of God. That he knows how to teach and can do so confidently without shame.
The Bible being TRUTH can teach us how to become a child of God (John 1:12) and live a Christian life (John 13:34-35), avoiding sin and error (1John 4:6). It can teach us how to be better husbands and wives (Ephesians 5:22-25). How to deal with employers and subordinates at work Colossians 3:23. The whole of the Bible is our text book. Some showing us the way to God others showing us how to conduct our lives in Christ... May the Spirit be your teacher.. Jim

we are foot step followers of Jesus as a result we are Christians. We have faith Jesus to be the son of God, no longer God. Our Heavenly Father is Jehvoah. Psalms eighty 3:18 and Exodus 6:3. we are no longer a cult as we carry on with the scriptures, and hear the instructions of Jehovah and Jesus. a great variety of misinformed people proposing you with solutions right here. locate out for your self approximately us from us, no longer from misinformed ones.

The problem is, you can't use the Scriptures rightly unless you can interpret them rightly. 500 years of doctrinal chaos demonstrates clearly that the manmade Protestant traditions of sola scriptura and personal interpretation cannot result in accurate interpretation, and therefore cannot result in appropriate application. Right application of a flawed interpretation will not result in a godly outcome.

we are to use the scripture to judge for ourselves, not others.

Romans 14:22 The faith which you have, have as your own conviction before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves.

True. Entertaining in here for the most part. Some of the answers from the fundies can cause my eyelids to twitch too violently on occasion, but we have to pay our dues I guess.
