They are ignorant, plain and simple. Many people can't handle something they are not used to or cannot understand.

People are mean, the world around us is getting worse and worse. Try to ingnore the people who react coldly to your childs outbursts (for lack of a better word) especailly other children, they just dont understand. I would focus more on your own child and telling them why some people may react that way and just reassure them that they will be fine and mommy will always love them and they will make friends. I know it will be hard for a 3 year old to understand but they more you talk to them about it the more they will learn to cope with others ignorances, and believe in themselves...good luck coach mom!!

Maybe if you explain that he has a sensory problem, it would help?
Most people are simply uneducated about problems that we (self included) cannot see. There is no need for teasing under any circumstances, but if you think that people talking about the screaming means they are making fun, then I think you are not looking from the outside in.
I don't think you can have a reasonable expectation that people are not going to react to a screaming child. If it's sensory, you need to read the situation and take your child out of one that is going to overload him/her, because others are not expected to stop and hush or curtail activity. Definitely, those that know the situation should be more compassionate, but a bunch of other 3-year-olds cannot understand sensory problems.

Does he have autism? OUr son does- and is very upset by loud noises, clothing that is too rough, blankets are the same, etc. etc. etc.
You may want to teach your son some self-help skills- covering his ears, moving away from the noise etc. I would also make a comment to adults who choose to be ignorant- that burns me. It's not right and it is immature.
Good luck to you and to your son!

I'm sorry ppl put you and your son through this! They are ignorant and rude, the adults should know better and should correct their children, I teach my 3 year old son that everyone is different, not weird, and that laughing at ppl when they act or look different is not nice and it makes them feel sad, hopefully my child will not be one of these awful ppl, once again im so sorry that ppl laugh, there parents did not raise them correctly,

Because people are ignorant and savages. They only see what they perceive as normal. Keep in mind that most people have faults and they love to point them out in other people.

Maybe they don't understand. They could possibly think he's just being a brat or "weird". If it upsets you, then when somebody laughs just say,"It's a special needs condition. He can't control it, so please don't laugh." If you say it nicely you may even get some apologies.

I'm so sorry.
Kids can be cruel b/c they don't know any better... but an adult? That's ridiculous. Ignorance, I guess.

Because people are rude in today's world. They don't understand things, and don't want to learn about things.
