evolution means evolving from smaller than an ant all the way up through 8 million 400 thousand species of life and continuing to evolve until we become enlightened like Jesus or others and the symptom of a very evolved being is that they love God above anything in this world. This can take millions of births- and hundreds of human births!

Here's the wiki link

I think that is the short version.
The theory of evolution by natural selection was first proposed by Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace and set out in detail in Darwin's 1859 book On the Origin of Species.[5] In the 1930s, Darwinian natural selection was combined with Mendelian inheritance to form the modern evolutionary synthesis,[3] in which the connection between the units of evolution (genes) and the mechanism of evolution (natural selection) was made. This powerful explanatory and predictive theory has become the central organizing principle of modern biology, providing a unifying explanation for the diversity of life on Earth.[6]

South Park NOT a reliable source.

Evolution is the gradual change, over time, thru mutation and natural selection of several species from one common ancestor. Great example is dogs. All dogs come from the same "thread" but thru careful breeding you have many different types. Poodles, St. Bernards, Beagles, and Great Danes are all dogs, but there are obvious differences.

Now back that out to a global, loooonnnng process, and you understand evolution.

It is not my intention to demean you, but if you can't even form a coherent sentence, you think your spiritual position makes a difference in your evaluation of this subject and you get your information from South Park, what makes you think you'll be able to understand a very complex subject like evolution? And on top of it you demand a short explanation for your short attention span. If you're confused but curious, take the time to learn about it instead of requesting someone else to do all the heavy lifting for you. Take a little responsibility for your knowledge base and education.

Evolution is any change that happens gradually; we speak of businesses evolving and that is easy to understand, but it's much harder to comprehend when it takes place over millions of years.

Take humans. At one point, millions of years ago, all humans were the same, having evolved from a common ancestor in the ape family. Now we have tremendous variety in height, weight, hair color, eye color, facial and racial characteristics, etc. Some humans are also more evolved than others - Geoirge W, for example, seems more chimplike than most (see www.bushorchimp.com ) not only in looks but in his chestbeating gorilla posturing.

I suggest, for starters, books by Richard Dawkins like The Blind Watchmaker.

Evolution is the genetic change in living things over a long period of time that sometimes results in new species. Most genetic changes are brought about by environmental pressure.

You really should go back to school if you don't understand that.

Evolution is the gradual change of gene frequencies in a population, sometimes punctuated by mutations. Most mutations are harmful, but they occasionally give rise to superior adaptations to the environment. Natural selection is the driving force of evolution, prohibiting unfit organisms from breeding, thus removing them from the gene pool.

Evolution has a million different theories depending on what quack you want to believe. Look up all the debates between scientist and you will see what I mean. It started with a theory that we came from monkeys because we look like them. Then a bunch of people claimed to find bones that proved it and basicly they all lied. Now scientist are trying to find real proof because they feel like such a ss holes for tricking us.

Evolution is the change, over time, in the frequency of certain genes and groups of genes, in a population.

In otherwords, if you had 300 labgrrl beasts on an island in 200CE, and they were 90% redheaded and 100% carried the redhead gene, and then in 500CE they were 70% redheaded and 90% carried the redheaded gene, that's evolution.

AND THAT'S ALL IT IS, regardless of fundies. Change in allelle frequency in a population over time. FTW!

speciation, the beginning of life on this planet and others, theology and cosmology all are not described by the theory of evolution. Speciation is predicted (and observed) but it's not evolution itself.

Here is a video, taught by a high school science teacher, who will explain the seven types of Evolution in simple terms.

Look at the video titled "Age of the Earth" first.

I'd suggest you download it, save it to your hard disk, then watch it.
