Point of Information. The British Army's Challenger Main Battle Tank has two reverse gears!

Why do you have to ask such silly questions?

No, i recognize for a certainty that still the Swedish military's tanks canpersistent backwards. i think of your questions stems from an previous delusion that purely coward armies could have opposite gears on their tanks, and that armies with truly harsh management could ban the opposite equipment to make retreat impossible. As you truly recognize, backing up would be a sensible tactical manoeuvre to e.g. trick the enemy right into a capture. stream (even backwards!) is between the standard components of procedures (including firepower and risk-free practices). A tank without the prospect to flow in opposite could be basically approximately ineffective.

Bugger off, troll boy.

ALL tanks, from the first British tanks in WW1 to the most modern tanks of today, have at least one reverse gear. It is necessary for operations in close quarters. Some places you can't do a neutral steer, and can't go forward.

Every tank has a reverse gear...sometimes, you could need it in combat.

Often, you need it to move you tank on the various road & parking.

That's an interesting piece of trivia. Unless a tank is confined to REALLY tight quarters, it's unnessesary, though. Tanks have the ability to pivot 360 degrees by spinning one tread.
