What kind of pain should I expect from the drilling out of a medium-deep sized cavity (not giving me any pain right now, does that mean it isnt touching the root?) w

WITH local anesthetic.

How much will the drilling hurt?

If you are having local anesthetic you shouldn't feel any pain. If the cavity has not gone deep enough to reach the nerve of the tooth you will probably not have trouble after the anesthesia has worn off. If the nerve is irritated or already damaged you may experience pain or cold/biting sensitivity after it is done and this will usually get better/fully resolve over time. If it doesn't you may need a root canal. Best of luck-

lots of people ask for the local anesthetic which numbs the area where the tooth is. You'll hear the drilling and it MAY (but maybe not) feel warm but you shouldn't feel pain from the drilling.

You won't feel a thing as long as you are properly anaesthetized or frozen. It seems a strange question seeing as you have obviously had fillings before.
