It is happening, and its ugly. The area I live is just nuts, summer is the time where its all sunny and hot and people go to the beach and vacation and all that goody fun. However, where I live (West), the weather is frequently cloudy, windy, raining or wildfires occurred. When school is back on September, in November it would be a bit hotter than the usual.
Its a big concern here, the governor is actually taking part of the global warming issue. I think the media and Al Gore's movie actually make a spread and influence for the people around the world. Even the Live Earth concerts. The more questions about global warming, the more answers we have for a greener value.
Cars such as hybrids should be lowered down, and give cheaper prices for the biodiesel. I mean, summer, we are expecting the gas prices to go up high, and energy levels boosting up. Those are the big problems. We as the people have to care about the planet we're living in. For our future, our future children, their generation, and our generation and so on.
I am glad what these people are standing up and stepping forward to take on this issue, we will need it. We need more solutions and more alternative to save the planet Earth, and the homes billions and billions of people living in.

I think that it's a possibility, but not a solid fact like politicians are making it out to be. The problem is, much of the evidence that points away from global warming is ignored by everyone but only the most serious scientists. Politics and the media have completely blown it out of proportion. Yes, I agree that a lot needs to be changed to improve the environment, but these scare tactics by Al Gore and his followers are not the correct approach. People need to look at the whole picture, not just parts that support their cause. If people took the time to know and present all sides of the argument, there could be some good discussion on the subject instead of this widespread view that if you don't believe global warming is a fact than you must be wrong.

In my opinion, both sides are politicizing the issue more than they should, but what's really reprehensible is that the anti-environmentalists are using their refusal to believe in global warming as an excuse to refuse to change any of their irresponsible and planet-harming ways. Whether you believe in global warming or not should be virtually irrelevant. There are other indisputable reasons why we need to reduce emissions. Here in Phoenix, and in other major metropolitan areas, we frequently have ozone advisories, warning even healthy active adults to stay inside or minimize their outdoor activities. In case you don't know, most ozone comes from car exhaust fumes, power plants and other man-made sources of nitrous oxides. Will people have to start dropping dead in the streets before the extremists recognize that unhealthy air is a bad thing?

This is science and what counts is the data.

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)
Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut and the first Commander of the Naval Space Command

Here are two summaries of the mountain of peer reviewed data that convinced Admiral Truly and the vast majority of the scientific community, short and long.

It's (mostly) not the sun:

http://solar-center.stanford.edu/sun-on-earth/FAQ2.html

And the first graph aboves shows that the sun is responsible for about 10% of it. When someone says it's the sun they're saying that thousands of climatologists are stupid and don't look at the solar data. That's ridiculous.

Science is quite good about exposing bad science or hoaxes:

http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/ATG/polywater.html

There's a large number of people who agree that it is real and mostly caused by us, who are not liberals, environmentalists, stupid, or conceivably part of a "conspiracy". Just three examples of many:

"Global warming is real, now, and it must be addressed."

Lee Scott, CEO, Wal-Mart

"Our nation has both an obligation and self-interest in facing head-on the serious environmental, economic and national security threat posed by global warming."

Senator John McCain, Republican, Arizona

“DuPont believes that action is warranted, not further debate."

Charles O. Holliday, Jr., CEO, DuPont

There's a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on Yahoo answers:

http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/articles/home_page/329.php?nid=&id=&pnt=329&lb=hmpg1

And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change
http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/full/306/5702/1686 and:

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know... Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point. You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."

Dr. Jerry Mahlman, NOAA

I think the effects of humans on Global Warming have been far exaggerated to create a desire for the Green Economy. CO2 has very little potency as opposed to Methane and a number of other gases which are released naturally, so there's very little we can do to stop this natural trend. However, If you feel obligated to do your part, keep in mind how every resource you use is taken from the earth and try to live as naturally as possible. Global Warming is still going to happen, but you're not abusing the Earth.

I think its a crock of poo....the government and the extremists need something to distract our thoughts from the fact that we made a HUGE boo boo in Iraq...and the fact that we "cant withdraw our troops" so what better way to divert our attention than to make a global awareness that Mother Nature is a hormonal basketcase just like any other woman that's PMSing. Nature is unpredictable, always was always will be...what is happening in a natural wave in the Earths temperature...it has been happening over and over and over for the last 10,000 years, what makes today any different than yesterday? Now you look at how Americans (and everyone else) are freaking out over what we are doing to the environment...then take a look at China...they are a country MUCH smaller than the US, Europe and Australia...yet they are going to FLY over us in the pollution sector! But lets worry about what Gore thinks and Cheryl Crow and her "1 sheet per bathroom visit" toilet paper idea....not to mention her convoy of 8 tractor trailers and a few buses to get her to her precious Live Earth concert!!!!!!! Yeah..way to make a point!

the earth has gone through warm and cold cycles for billions of years and will continue to do so no matter what Al Gore or anyone else tries to say or do about it. in the 70's scientists actually thought the earth was suffering from global cooling.
