I was watching various documentaries the other day with outspoken athiests. Sometimes, i wondered if they got a little emotional...because they would say things that were perhaps rather exaggerated. I think christianity is in general foolish, and ugly, and it seems to lobotomize a bunch of people...But it also seems to me that the US is the pinnacle of tolerance, ingenuity, and compassion in the western world, if you look at this nation today in the perspective of history...I mean, only 60 years ago black kids couldnt even attend white schools...that would be UNTHINKABLE today.Christianity may be rather annoying, but seriously, lets be honest...its nothing nearly as insane as Islamic extremism. Most christians seem to have views which are, perhaps wrong...but also pretty innocuous in the grand scheme of things. Are we athiest sometimes a little too hard on christians? Are we perhaps sometimes too interested in being correct, and go overboard, when maybe we can forgive harmless stuff?

I think that as atheists we sometimes focus on the crazies, and some of us are still sort of rebelling against our own past religious upbringing, but forget that most christians (or other religions) are just normal people with a mostly sane understanding of the world. But there seem to be so many of the annoying outspoken evangelicals that can't tolerate anyone else. Like the people in Kansas who won't teach evolution in the schools. They are the scary ones who would like to see the US as a christian country.

You say there is nothing here quite as insane as people strapping bombs to themselves - maybe, but what about hate crimes, justified by the idea that god hates gays, or whoever it is fashionable to hate at the time. There are narrow minded people everywhere using god as an excuse to carry out their demented acts.

I would just like to think that there are enough open minded people in this country that we don't have to worry about the radicals taking over.

Actually, I don't view Christianity itself as 'bad' at all.

There is little wrong with the concepts of forgiveness, love, kindness, treating people well, generosity, sharing upon which much of it's theology is based.

The traditions of men are where Christianity goes astray. Those who would judge others though it's not their place.

All-in-all I am a much better person since becoming a Christian because I don't go around reeking havoc like I did in a younger day.

However, all in all I believe your last sentence sums it up quite nicely for everyone. Sometimes we are too interested in being correct and as a consequence jump off the deep end when we should just forgive and forget.

it sort of feels to me you're inquiring for help finding a controversy which will justify your viewpoint or definition of a observe. Whats the huge deal? you already know the definitions o.k.. Who cares whether "they" do or not? i'm Christian and Christianity is my faith. ninety 9% of the time the question: what's your faith? is asked, that's a effortless question to understand what faith you're. Buddhist, Muslim, Christian, etc. faith encompasses all faiths, mutually as Christianity is a particular perception that Gods in basic terms Begotten Son, Jesus, lived a perfect life which qualified Him as "The Lamb of God". His loss of life on the go became into the top of the previous testomony and the beginning up of the recent. that's in His call, by utilising His blood and with the aid of His Spirit that we could be stored.

We as believers are the only thing standing between your precious western society and annhilation. God doesnt allow immoral nations to enjoy unlimited reign.

If the world felt the Gospel wasnt foolish, Id be worried.

Thank you for recognizing that Christianity is not a threat. Our country is formed on the idea that we all have the freedom to practice religion and faith as we choose. You have the right to be an atheist, just as I have the right to be a Christian.
