I modeled alot as an early teen, and it was about 500, but i already had an agent, so I got a discount. Normally, think up of 700. But trust me, it is worth it. I looked so gorgeuos, and you can totally tell the difference.

It can be expensive, but shop around and check out the work of various photographers... Expensive doesn't always mean good work. Really go out and see if anyone has done the kind of photography with other models that you are looking for. Talk with photographers and get to know them and thier personalities. If you and a photographer happen to "click" that is great because a relaxed environment usually means a better experience for you as a model, and for the photographer as well. Always show up to a shoot on time, and have a good attitude. Never ever be a "no call, no show"
PS- don't ever post pics of yourself on Model Mayhem or OMP with a snapshot... don't post anything BUT professional pictures. Always have an escort with you, unless you have worked a photographer more than once and you feel comfortable!

It really depends on the photographer and where you live. Just make sure that you agree on a price BEFORE you get the shots taken. Make sure of what you will receive. Some photographers charge a flat sitting fee of like $50 to $100 just to take the pictures and you get nothing in return. Make sure that you know exactly what you are getting. Make sure that you actually SEE his/her work so that you can get a feel of how your photos will look. Just a tip.... Outdoor photos are always the best! I have done portfolios before and I will not do it for less than $100. For the $100, I take 24 shots and then you choose either ten 5 x 7 photos or five 8 x 10 photos. I do not give out negatives or cd's with the original photos. I will keep them for 5 years and if you want to reorder, you can contact me. I live in Virginia. I think my prices are relatively low but I am a photographer on the side and it is NOT my full time job. Just make sure you ask questions before you begin and NEVER go to a desalate area with someone you do not know. It's always good to take a friend with you! Try Black and White photos as well... and Good Luck!

It can get quite expensive depending on the area you live in but you can also get them for free.
Just like you want to start a portfolio with your headshots, there's an photographer in your town who wants to build up his own. Contact your local art school or college and ask them if they have any photographers willing to take your pictures TFP (time-for-prints). You will ecxhange your looks for their time and you will both get what you want out of it.
In addition, you will most probably get some very good shots. Make sure you get your contact through an established link like a school and ask them beforehand if they have any waivers or releases to make you sign. It will also improve your chances of getting a quality photographer and not just some dude in a basement.

This really depends on where you are located. The price difference between New York and LA is extreme! In New York the average is about 750 or so. In LA it's like 400 or so. At least that is what I came up with.
There is a site called http://www.headshots101.com and they have two sections you should check out. One is "Price Ranges" (or something like that) and the other is how to hire the right photographer.

Just as up and coming models/stars need a portfolio, aspiring photographers also need glamourous shots for theirs. Why don't you advertise and see if any photographer is willing to trade. Beware. Make sure of their credentials first. Do not get duped.

"Professional" ones goes from $250.00 and up. It depends on how many looks and change of wardrobe. There's some photographer whom are starting out will shoot for less, like around $100. Some will do it for free if they use your picture for their portfolio.

It depends on where you decide you may want your pictures taken. It also depends on the quantity amount that you choose you wish to buy, but it could get very pricey the more you decide you would enjoy taking home with you. it could vary from 60 to 130$.

Post a snapshot or two of yourself on a model site like onemodelplace or modelmayhem. You'll be able to receive e-mail through the site (forwarded to the e-mail address you sign-up with) from photographers who'd like to work with you. Some will want to charge you, others will offer to exchange services -- your modeling time for their shooting time. They get your image in their portfolio, you SHOULD get a CD burned by them with selected pictures from the session on it for you to print out and/or post on-line. Beware, of course. Check nout fortfolios and references before you meet.
Also know that little money is made on-line by the models. Brick and mortar talent agencies should be your eventual target, and they'll have to be in major cites.
