1914 FORSEEN

it was in B.C 607, That Gods kingdom ended, and the diadem was removed, and all the earth given up to the Gentiles. 2520 years from B.C 607, will end in 1914-The Three worlds, published in 1877, page 83

"The Bible evidence is clear and strong that the "Times of the Gentiles" is a period of 2520 years, from the bible year 607 to and inculding A.D 1914-Studies in the scriptures, Volume 2, written by C.T Russell and published in 1889, page 79

Charles Taze Russell and his fellow bible students relized decades earlier that 1914 would mark rge end of the Gentile Times, Or the appointed times of the nations. while they did not in those early years fully understand what this would mean, they were convinced that 1914 was going to be a pivotal date in world

To correct a few misunderstandings:

To. Schneb: Jehovah's Witnesses to not believe we are living in the 1000 year reign now, that is in the future. We do not believe that Satan is abyss right now, but as Rev. 12: 9 & 12 shows that he has been ousted from heaven and confined to the earth. "So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth, he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him." "Woe to the earth and to the sea, because the Devil has come down to you having great anger, knowing he has a short period of time." The abyssing of Satan does not take place until after Armgeddon. Rev. chapter 20.

We feel that the 144,000 are ones who have been chosen from among mankind through the centuries since Jesus death and will rule in heaven over the earth along side Jesus as Rev. 20: 6 brings out that they are "..but they will be priest of God and of the Christ, and will rule as kings with him for the thousand years." Rev. 5: 9 &10 "..you bought persons for God out of every tribe and tongue and people and nations and you made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they are to rule as kings over the earth."
144,000 are mentioned at Rev. 7:4 & Rev. 14:1 (These are not the same tribal listings as the original 12 tribes of Israel, at Numbers 1: 4-16, so they would not be literal Jews, but spiritual from all nations) We feel that this is a literal number, because it goes on to speak of another class at Rev. 7: 9 "After these things I saw, and, look! a great crowd, which no man was able to number, out of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the Lamb, dressed in white robes, and there were palm branches in their hands." Rev. 7:13 the questioned is asked about the "great crowd" "where did they come from"? Verse 14 states "These are the ones that come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. That is why they are before the throne of God: and they are rendering him sacred service day and night in his temple; and the One seated on the throne will spread his tent over them. They will hunger no more nor thirst anymore, neither will the sun beat down upon them nor any scorching heat, because the Lamb, who is in the midst of throne, will shepherd them, and will guide them to fountains of waters of life. And God will wipe out ever tear from their eyes.
See also Rev. 21: 3 & 4, "Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be know more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Note that they are worshipping at the temple which is earthly, and it states that the "former things have passed away". These things death, mourning etc. are earthly, not heavenly. So they would pass away from the earth.as they had formerly been. So, we believe that the 144,000 are those chosen to rule in heaven over the earth, where the great crowd who survive Armeggdon will live along with all those who are resurrected. They will live in peaceful, paradisic conditions as brought out at: Is 11: 6-9; Is 65: 21-25; Is 35: 5-7; Is 33:24; Ps 72; 16; Ps 37: 10, 11 & 29; Dan 2:44

To Fokkerball: That is not true about 1914, guess what we were studying last night ...1914, the end of the Gentile times. Jehovah's Witnesses strongly believe that by dates in the bible, that Jesus began ruling in heaven as king of God's kingdom in 1914 and the Gentile times ended, and Satan was ousted from heaven. They knew years 40 years in advance that 1914 would make the end of the Gentile times,
as the quote above shows that in 1989 Russell stated "The Bible evidence is clear and strong that the "Times of the Gentiles" is a period of 2520 years, from the bible year 607 to and including AD 1914." They did not fully understand what would happen, but they knew it was an important time for all Christians.

I don't have trouble with anyone's beliefs, so long as he doesn't think he has the right to impose them on me. I really believe in freedom of religion.

But I had a good friend in college in the 1970s who quit school because he believed the end of the world was coming. He was a Jehovah's Witness. His church taught that the end was coming in 1984! I asked him how they figured this out, since nobody is really supposed to know. He said that it was one lifetime after the word of Jesus was spread around the world. The word was spread around the world in 1914, he said, and then everyone had a lifetime to make the decision to follow him. One lifetime is 'threescore years and ten', or seventy years. That makes it 1984.

The thing is, he did not come up with this himself, it was taught to him in church. I didn't believe it then and today we can see they were wrong!

There are a couple of middle-aged Jehovah's Witness ladies who come to my door on Sunday morning once in a while. They are very nice ladies and I often chat with them for a while. All the JWs I've known have been nice people, so other than my friend dropping out of school, I can't say anything bad about the faith.

This is so sad. This is why some people - myself included - take the time to answer questions on Yahoo answers. Because you are being misled.

Yes, it's true that the quotation you read out of the Watchtower book didn't say the the world would end. But if you had the actual books that were written by the Watchtower in front of you, you could read for yourself that they DID say the world would end in 1914 - not that the earth would be destroyed, but it said that the all the governments of the earth would be destroyed in 1914 and God's Kingdom would rule the earth from then on.

That never happened. It still hasn't. Also, if you had the original books, you could read that those books also said:

1. The Time of the End began in 1799 and would end in 1914 when God would take away all the power of the Gentile - non-Jewish-governments of the earth.

2. Jesus returned to the earth in an invisible spirit body in 1874 and was "present" right here in the earth (they said we couldn't see him because he's invisible, but he was making his "presence" known to his "true" followers"). NOT 1914, but 1874.

3. They said that In 1914, God would take people to heaven because God's Kingdom could not begin ruling until all the "rulers" had been taken to heaven, and God's Kingdom would rule the earth in 1914.

World War I started, and that was a big change. But so was September 11, 2001. But neither one was the end of the world as we know it.

It seemed when the war began, that maybe the WT was right. But the war ended without any of the things happening that the WT said would happen. It was only a war, and the world has seen a greater war since then, but neither war was the War of Armagdeddon. Since 1914, the WT has foretold that the dead would be resurrected in 1925 - they even buillt a house called Beth Sarim in San Diego for the prophets to live in - do you think they really know what they're talking about?

Of course, 1914 did not mark the end of the world but the beginning of many catastrophic events that will make us see that the end of this cruel system of things is near. Many people refuse to believe in this because they still want to continue living their immoral lifestyles. It's just like when Noah warned everyone that a flood would come, and they just laughed at his face and continued doing their every day things. But once the ark's door closed and it began to rain everyone who was outside started screaming in fear, and that's exactly what's going to happen this time around.

jiamb, like you i am not a JW (yet). I do not have a regular Bible Study with them because my own church is threating me and is publicly putting me down for even communicating with the Jehovah's Witnesses. I am comparing doctrines on my own. I have their Watchtower Librarey CD rom and some of their publictions. I have the book of Mormons and have my own copy of the KJV Bibles and the New Jerusalem bible.

It is the likes of Carol D and L. Princess that really pushed me to study more about the Jehovah's Witnesses. Again, i am not studying with the Jehovah's Witnesses. I am doing my own homework and research: comparing this to that and that to this. I've prayed to Jesus to help me...and tried to pray to Jehovah. I now find it odd to pray to Jesus and then end the prayer in the name of Jesus. LOL. I feel more comfortable now praying to the name of Jehovah and end the prayer in the name of Jesus Christ.

Anyway, although I do not feel fully equipped yet with knowledge, I have come to conclude that you and i have come to the same conclusion. Jehovah's Witnesses are the closest religion to the 'truth.' and many of those who truly do not understand and/or are former JW are twisting the truth.

In a way, I am greatful to those i mentioned about because they keep pushing us to keep praying for holy spirit; keep doing research and study who really are the true Christians.

Well, i think i found them...found them in the midst of Jehovah's earthly organization which Jesus is overseeing; the one and only Jehovah's Witnesses.

I was more convinced when i attended their Follow the Christ District Convention in San Francisco. Like you, i hope it won't be too late for me.

Do a little more research, 1914 wasn't the first date he set as the "end times". It was 1874, then 1875, then 1914. The publications before 1914 said the end would come in 1914. When it didn't he said it was "invisible" and happened in heaven. He only stated that after it didn't happen on earth

I was a JW for 30 years and did tons of research into this, reading many of the old publications. You should do the same

Besides, 1914 was just the beginning of a war, big deal, so was 1939

Also, have you noticed the Society has removed just about every reference to 1914 in their publications now? Why is that? Because the end hasn't come. 1914 is not the big deal it used to be because time is running out for that "prophecy"

(2Peter 3: 3-4 ) 3 For YOU know this first, that in the last days there will come ridiculers with their ridicule, proceeding according to their own desires 4 and saying: “Where is this promised presence of his? Why, from the day our forefathers fell asleep [in death], all things are continuing exactly as from creation’s beginning.”

and in fact 1914 there was war in Heaven and on Earth the Devil and his demons were send to Earth and War started WW1-WW2, Korean war, Vietnam, Cold war, 92 Gulf war with Irak, 2002 the war thats going on in Irak again...and others small wars in between..thats why in 1914 this happend what Revelation says in chapter 12: and verses 7-12.."7 And war broke out in heaven: Mi´cha·el and his angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled 8 but it did not prevail, neither was a place found for them any longer in heaven. 9 So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven say:

“Now have come to pass the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ, because the accuser of our brothers has been hurled down, who accuses them day and night before our God! 11 And they conquered him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their witnessing, and they did not love their souls even in the face of death. 12 On this account be glad, YOU heavens and YOU who reside in them! Woe for the earth and for the sea, because the Devil has come down to YOU, having great anger, knowing he has a short period of time.”

There are truths that are complicated. Most will not understand or even try to understand.

It doesn't matter who discovered the truth in the bible...I am just glad they did.

There are celebrated bible scholars all over the world. Just because one was named Russell doesn't mean he is less entitled to be heard.

I am so happy to be a part of this faith because all the others I have explored have been unsatisfying to me.

God is truly to be worshiped and to find out his name and be a teller of his truths is joy to me.

whatever you call it...however you all see it...it doesn't matter because I know I am a preacher of righteousness and God will reward me with life everlasting for loving him so much and dedicating my life to him.
