My son, Dylan, turned two a few weeks ago and for about two months he has been taking off his diaper in his crib. He won't leave it on for anything, even pull-ups. He pees and falls asleep in it. I check on his so much and end up having to change his sheets a few times a day because of it. Can anyonne give me any suggestions on what to do. We are learning about the big boy potty, but i can't potty train him by nap time today!

LOL LOL ain't it a pain!

Turn it round backwards for a start - not so easy for him to get at. We actually resorted to taping daughter into hers at night.

My little guy is doing the EXACT same thing. I started putting him in easy ups. They are WAY harder for him to take off and he has lost interest. There is also the option of putting them on backward so that he can't get at the tapes. You can potty train him if he is interested. Leave his diaper off during the day and he will go to the potty if you have been diligently putting him on it to train. My little guy did his first BM yesterday in the potty on his own this way!! I am so proud!

Duct tape?? OMG get real...

Potty train, and buy a rubber or "potty" sheet. That way, the mattress won't get ruined. You can find these sheets at most department stores in the bedding areas, Target has the largest selection.

Can he take off shorts or pants? If he can't you may try putting bottoms on him when he goes to sleep, that might help until he gets potty trained. or put one of plastic mattress covers on his bed and don't put any sheets on the bed then you won't have to change his sheets all the time. Good luck, that can be a difficult age.

Duct tape, seriously. Wrap it around the top of the diaper after each change, then all you'll have to do is snip through it. Or you could put him in zip up pajamas and put them on backwards so the zipper is in the back.

A two-year-old is old enough to understand to leave his diaper on when you tell him. I am not really an advocate of spanking, however, in this case I would spank him. It is just a battle of the wills and so far its baby 1, mom 0.

EDIT: I have to admit, I DO like the duct tape method. Never heard of that, or thought of that. I might have to try that when my daughter gets older.

hi there. i have 5 boys, 3 of which all went through the same thing, and 1 which is doing the same thing now. i have found that putting underwear or shorts over the diaper makes them feel like a big boy yet you still have protection. especially if it has a character like spiderman. my boy loves his spiderman underwear. try it, it never hurts.

Tell him firmly that he needs to keep his diaper on. If he takes it off, tell him 'No" and put it back on. Make sure he knows that he needs to wear a diaper to do things that he likes. Such as: "You need to leave your diaper on if you want to play with that toy." or "Unless you leave your diaper on you cannot have a cookie." And when he leaves his diaper on, praise him.
