I'm not sure about actual dating, most laws that I come across deal with the sexual nature of relationships. At any rate, as in these cases, it is generally the parents who bring the police into these matters. Your son would need to have a good relationship with her parents or the relaionship (and his future) is doomed. You son hasn't been considered a teenager by criminal law since he was 17, wich means he is well past the grey area on this one. If her mom and dad say no to the whole thing and press charges, he will be labeled a sex offender his whole life, even if he's only kissed her. I recommend that he try keeping his "dates" with her close to her home. Spend some time with her family until mom and dad trust him.

ps- I just read some of the other answers. your son is a legal adult, you are not legally responsible for his actions. Accomplice to a crime is still something you could be liable for though, so don't let it happen under your roof.

Are you sure you're not one of the kids? You don't sound like you're a parent. If you really sat down and thought about this, why doesn't your son want to be with girls his own age? Why are you trying to help him break the law and her disobey her parents? I think you need some help with parenting skills. I just don't see why a 19 yr old wants/needs to be with a 15 yr old CHILD. Even though she's a teen she's still a child. Tell your son to prey on someone his own age and grow up.

Look at your state's ".gov" website and look for statutory laws.
In my state (KY), 16 is the age of consent. I remember reading "no one under 16 can be with anyone 21 or over". Check your laws, maybe he can wait until she's 16.

I always dated older guys. Perhaps if I was 15 and seeing a 30 y/o, my mother would have pressed charges. However, I was 15, dating a 20 y/o... she didn't like it, but knew I was mature enough to make my own 'mistakes'. It's up to the parents to press charges. Maybe you should talk to them as well, and back up your son if you think they should be together. Supervised visits for now isn't a bad thing either. Have your son get on their good side before they start dating, and have him get permission FIRST.

Technically, there's nothing they can do unless they're involved in sexual practices. Maybe they should be 'friends' for now.

He can't, he is an adult and the 15 year old is still a minor. HER parents are responsible for her and decide on whether THEY have the right to get him into trouble. If it were me I would be asking what is wrong with an adult who wants to date children. Tell him to get a job, go to college and start hanging around with his peers rather than children.

If being with her will get him in trouble with her parents, then he can't be with her. She is way to young for him, physically and mentally. You are correct in that there may be trouble with the law, especially if she got mad at him for something, he may be setting himself up for big trouble. 15 year old girls are unpredictable.

He can't get around it. You should be encouraging him to date people his own age. To teach him to hide his relationship from the parents, and the law, is not responsible behavior, and as a parent I am surprised you would agree to this.

He can't, it's illegal and I'm sure her parents arent thrilled that she's dating a 19 yr old. Why are you condoning this. He's probably graduated high school and she probably hasn't even gotten her womanhood yet. Why cant he find someone his own age instead of taking advantage of a 15 yr old.

He cannot and why would you encourage it? Redirect his behavior, just like when he was 2. Jail should be discouragement.

I have 4 daughters and it is well know in my community that I don't play. You mess with one of my girls and I will have you arrested.

I would not be OK with me son dating a girl underage. You seem pretty lax about it. Your son will be able to drink alcohol in two years and she will be in high school still.

howcum you're for this alliance, your son (at this point in
growing up) should be interested in young adults his
own age -- not teenie boppers --- give the girl a chance
to grow up, if'n the feelings exist in 2 or 3 years go for it.
