I am not, but I have family and friends that are. And the biggest misconception about them as others have already stated is that they are here to mooch off our government. There are those that do get assistance of some sort. But in the state I live in they cannot get medicaid, food stamps, or even go to the ER for an emergency. They are not lazy, the ones I know work 14+ hour days. And we complain about an 8 hour work day. Another one is that once they are here they continue their road of law breaking. No one wants to be illegal, no one wants to break the law. They do not keep on having what everyone likes to call "anchor babies". I don't know of one that have children for that purpose, it's obsurd. If people just would take the time to understand what it is like, to have to sacrifice your life to try and do better. To be ridiculed as you walk down the street, to be labeled as an ILLEGAL. People do have feelings, and are human no matter where they come from.

I live in So Cal and I think the biggest misconception about illegal immigrants is that they are all lazy and are just here to be on our welfare system. I don't think thats true at all. I think that just like all of our ancestors, illegals are here to chase the american dream. they just want to make more money and provide a better life for their families. the same as anyone else. And for everyone else in So Cal who disagrees all I can tell you is that Cali was part of Mexico first and we stole it from them. So how in the hell are you going to tell Mexicans that they can't come to California which was originally theirs?

No. I think the biggest misconception about them is they don't take money from tax payers and they are doing the jobs we wont do.

One obvious misconception about illegals is that they all come here to kill, rape, to get "freebies," to have their 20 babies, but that's sad that people think that.

No, I was born here (and I don't just mean in this country, but in this country, state, county, and city). I have never immigrated.
Here, the biggest misconception I encounter is that I am an 'immigrant' because my ancestors came from the old country in the 19th century.

I think the biggest misconception they have is that we are uneducated and work for pennies on the dollar. Before my mom met my dad she was almost done with her medical degree in her country. Now days she is a social worker helping people out. She doesn't work for pennies on the dollar. Neither do the rest of the Hispanics we know. They need to stop blaming Hispanics for lower wages in other jobs. Its the employers that are taking advantage of people who didn't know how the system worked when they got here.

I believe the biggest misconception, is that undocumented live on all these freebies by American Taxpayers. Until someone comes up with creditable sources to prove these allegations, I will continue to believe they do not get the freebies, During Clinton presidency he signed legislation not to allow (legal) immigrates the right to government programs such as the food stamp program etc.

No, but I think the biggest misconception about illegals is (other than been here illegally) they are all criminals, & out to commit some heinous crime . We fear what we do not know & we do not know who or where these illigals are, so fear turns to hate.
It's nothing personal the same thing happened the immegrants coming here in the late 1800's & early1900's.
