I don't understand (unless it's a cheap/tough cut of meat) why people insist on marinating steaks and/or dousing them with some type of sauce. What's wrong with a little salt and pepper? Are there any steak purists left, or am I the only remaining one??

The only thing I want on a steak is salt and fresh cracked pepper. And, it has to be a good cut like a rib eye or porterhouse and cooked RARE. I want to be able to taste the steak. No marinades, A-1 sauce, or anything else, thank you!

A little salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano for me. Then I accompany the cooked piece of goodness with mushrooms and onions.

I go the extra mile and buy dry-aged steaks; I can get strips, ribeyes, and porterhouses dry-aged. Good stuff!

To me, they are 2 totally different foods...I like steaks with very little on them--salt, pepper, butter at the finish...but I also like well-seasoned meats...it just seems like a totally different dish to me.

Lots of people leave steak plain. . . I always do, unless I am using something like a sirloin tip, then I marinate them and make kabobs out of them.

I think it is a sin to ruin a good piece of steak with all that junk. Salt, pepper, knife and fork is all I need.....
