I have no problem with any type of religion - however, Atheist just seems so depressing to me ... to think that there is no after life? - and that when you die you just die? that is so depressing!

i never realized how hateful most atheists are until i got on yahoo answers - many atheists are sooo on edge! and are ready to attack at any moment! ... RELAX its a simple question - i did not say anything against your beliefs - so please dont say anything against mine!

You realize that only 144,000 get to go to heaven and the rest of you are going to burn in hell. At least that is what the bible says in Revelation.
I find the concept of a God that will torture his creations for all eternity much more depressing than life and death.

I don't find being an atheist depressing. I am focused on living a life full of meaning and love. It sounds depressing going through life focused on the fact we all die and desperately wishing for an afterlife to me. Different strokes for different folks I guess. If I did find it depressing and wished for immortality it wouldn't help me though because I know wishing something to be true just doesn't make it so. Atheism is not a religion though, it is the absence of belief in deities.

You seem to be projecting a lot.
You ask a question of a certain group of people, and then when they give sincere and for the most part polite answers you call them hateful and accuse them of attacking your religious beliefs.
Why bother asking the question when you have proven you aren't interested in the answer?
edit: and not once, but three times you referred to atheism as "depressing", and then claim that you didn't say anything against atheist's beliefs. Are you asking us to believe that you meant "depressing" as some kind of compliment?

Being an atheist has actually made me happier than christianity ever did. Not living in constant fear of a vengeful sky daddy? Wonderful! Not having to fear hell? Brilliant! I also think I live a more productive life, since I don't have to 'leave things to god' and I figure my problems out for myself, instead of waiting for non-existent answers from the absentee sky landlord.
PS Regarding your edit: Disagreeing with you is not being hateful, it's just disagreeing with you. I also hope you recognize how hateful many people are on this site, and not just assume it's all atheists. It's a people thing regardless of religion.

No, that is a misconception about atheists. I am an atheist and I know I am not evil or depressed. It's funny I get told all the time that I look like a "Good christian" and people get shocked that I am an atheist, because I don't "look" like an atheist.

Actually ALeprechaunism is more depressing. To think that there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. To think that when you get to the end of the rainbow and there is nothing there. That is so depressing!
If there isn't a pot of gold, it isn't going to do you much good to believe in one. And it certainly won't do you much good to whine about it and call it depressing.
Why are you making hateful bigoted comments about atheists anyway? What did we ever do to you? I am not "Hateful" I like everyone. You seem to be the one here making the hateful generalizations.

Lovelt- i think you provoked them now. I mean, atheist here can be pretty rude, still, if you question anybody if their life is as depressing as it seems they'll get pretty angry. And in such an impersonal form of comunication as the internet, things can escalate into offending each other pretty fast (you can't look the person you're talking to in the eyes).
Its not depressing for them. For them its their choice as a logical path of life, they believe they can archeive happines and peace just like the rest of us. And they don't see the necessity of an afterlife to acomplish those things. They have their arguments for it also.

just because you are "athiest" doesn't mean that you don't believe in anything or that you can't even imagine an afterlife. I'm not really sure what I am but I'm not ruling out anything. I hope there's an afterlife but I'm just assuming there isnt because it doesn't seem realistic to me
I also don't find anything about any answers that were given hateful. My question above is just as "hateful" as your question...
