Actually, it supports the families of the troops more so than the troops.

It says "I know that your son, or daughter, or husband, or wife, or dad, or mom is making a sacrifice in being over there fighting for us to have some of the freedoms of life that I enjoy, and... I APPRECIATE IT!!!"

That show of respect goes a long way for helping those family members of people that fight out of a sense off duty, and honor, when they have to lose that loved one, and for that soldier, or marine, or sailor, or airman that comes back here, and has to deal with the stuff they saw in combat, and the friends that they held in their arms, as they lay bleeding to death. It helps them to know it was not all done for nothing. It was not all a waste.

I want to clarify something, while I am on this subject. It is fully well possible to support those troops over there, without being in support of the President, his policies, his administration, or even the very reasoning they are there. Don't take out your frustrations with this President and his warped sense of purpose on those fighting men and women who are doing what they must. They are not at fault.

Hope this helps...

It is a show of unity. If any of the troops are watching news clips on the internet and they see cars driving behind the news reporter with that sticker it sends a message the troops that Americans support you.

* Supporting the troops does not equal agreeeing with the war. *

No, but it allows the person with the sticker to believe they are supporting the troops while actually doing nothing.

Doesn't the money go toward helping them? It also lets other people know. Kind of like bumper stickers for sports teams or political leaders.

Not at all. Its just another way Americans have tried to turn patriotism into some sort of fad. If you really want to support the troops, send them porno magazines...thats about all I ever wanted when I was deployed

I don't know if it actually supports our troops but it does make us take time to remember our troops when we see the yellow ribbon.
