Im taking six kittens in thursday. An animal only needs to be 2 lbs.
Added for the igmnorant answers.
It is not harder to find them nor are the organs still developing nor are there anymore complications. Wise up grow up a vet doesn't do it because they need the money they do it to save the pet. It is much easier on puppies and kittens to get done earlier. Your website was correct in getting it done and people with a few pets need to shut their ignorant holes. I have fifteen surgeries on thursday. 8 pup six weeks old and 6 kittens 8 weeks old and an entropion surgery. All you know it all look that one up!! It will be the worse recovery on them all for an adult dog.

If you spay or neuter an animal at a young age like 8 weeks there is a good chance that the surgery will have complications or an ovary or something might be missed because of the small size of the animal. It is better to wait until an animal is six months of age to get it spayed or neutered because their systems are more developed and they are larger so it is easier to get the surgery done quickly and easily. Also putting an animal under to conduct a surgery is very stressful on the animal and they have a better chance of waking up after being put under if they are older than 8 weeks. So it can be done at 8 weeks but most vets refuse to conduct a surgery like spaying or neutering at that young of an age unless it's an emergency.

Yes it is true. If this bill passes them people will have to spay and neuter their pet at the age of 6 months and if they don't do it then there will be a 500.00 fine. About the spaying and Neutering pets has been in Pet connection for a long time because thats what people are concerned about right now.
If you really think about it there won't be any kittens in the future to adopt and they are going to get people to take in older cats and dogs and there won't be any kittens to take in at all. It will only be pure breed pets and people won't want to dish out money to get pure breeds as pets there won't be mixed breed pets any more if you really think about. If you go to pet connection.com under their blog you will be able to hear what is going on because there is a link to the Hearing today about it. The Hearing is Today up in Sacramento.
I just found out the the Bill about Neutering and spaying is being put on the shelf and they got a lot of No Votes so it has been put on Hold for now.

Cats don't go into heat until around 6 months, that's the right time to get them neutered, at 8 weeks they are still babies there's no need to neuter so young, I'm surprised that a vet would even do it at so young of age, unless he's needing the money and can't wait for the baby kittens to get a little older.

The truth is that use to be what people were told but times have changed and kitty no longer needs to be an adult to altar. At on time it was recommended that an animal should have a litter before spaying or neutering because it would make kitty a better pet. Times change and that theory has been proven wrong too many times to count.

8 weeks is very young: The cat isn't even a quarter of the way through his growth yet. But it is possible to spay or neuter before the traditional 6 months, if you can find a vet willing to do so.

You can have a cat spay/neutered as long as they weigh 1 pound which happens to be around 8 weeks of age. The earlier its done the better it is for preventing behavioral issues later.

I wouldn't recommend getting a kitten that young spayed or neutered. I'd wait until the kitten is older, at least 6-8 months.

A male can be fixed at that age. I have had several of mine done at that age. With a female, you must wait until the organs are large enough to find. I have taken one of my females in three times to be fixed before they were able to find the organs due to the kittens young age, and on this kitten she was 5 months when I took her in for the first time. I would say that it depends on the kittens age, gender, and the vet you choose. Always go on what the vet you use says.
