Look at it this way. Light goes to your eye and your eye translates it into messeges to your brain. Eyes are receptors to your brain. Now. Think of this. You turn on a light switch and electricity goes form the outlet along the cord to the light and it turns on. If someone unplugs it or the light bulb is broken or burnt out it can not work. Back to the eye. If the eye is not functional or the nerve that plugs into the brain is either unplugged or dooes not work, the brain can not get the info it needs to see. So, no amount of glasses will help if the blindness is not a refractive error. Did I confuse you? I do htat sometimes.! O^O

If you are partially sighted or have low vision (some vision but not good), conventional glasses won't help but there are special low vision devices, some of which look like glasses that may help. These are called telescopic glasses; there are many different kinds and you need a special assessment to determine which, if any will work for you.

You will need to find a Low Vision Clinic for assessment; your eye doctor should be able to refer you to one. If there is a non profit association in your country that provides services for the blind or partially sighted, they may operate a clinic as well. See below for a link to one such association
