why does society accept older women with younger men alot more than the other way around?

for example, they have a show on mtv called "date my mom", where the contestant would flirt with the mothers of prospective contestants. had this been "date my dad" it would sound disgusting and mtv would get complaints.

yes that is sort of the question. why is it weird only for the other way around?

just because it's asked now doesn't mean it hasn't been known for a while, which is why i specifically stated what society accepted. i think it's equally awkward on both parts, but who am i to say. age is nothing but a number to a number or people =)

this is the way it has always been. it is actually based on sex. men are in their sexual prime in their late teens, early twenties. women are at theirs in their thirties. it works out well, because the older women train the younger men who then date women closer to their own age and teach them.better sex for every one in the end. it doesn't work the other way around because although some or most older men would love to be on the arm of a beautiful younger woman, most younger women are shallow or wanting to just party and the older the man gets, the less sexually active he is going to be, hence Viagra. and yes, younger men may be more sexually potent but tend to be extremely immature( they think with the smaller head) that is why it doesn't stay that way and the ages switch.

Oh come on now you must be young or getting a wind of this now and no offense to you...It has been the other way around for MANY YEARS NOW. Yes it very obvious today that women are dating younger men.."two each's own" "different strokes for different folks" In my opinion I believe it looks tacky on both, especially when one may have children who are the ages of these young men or women at home.

Probably because tv/media tells us what to think, and they think it's sexy. Think about Mrs. Robinson, Stifler's mom...for some reason, there's just something sexy about hooking up with a more "experienced" woman.

I honestly don't think there's any other reason why a show like that would fly except that media thinks it's sexy. Unless there's some bizarre psychological reason like some guy wasn't mothered enough when he was a child and so now he's making up for it by dating a motherly type. But that wouldn't explain all the girls who didn't get enough fathering. I'm sticking to my first response. Media thinks it's hot.

i think it's disgusting either way.

an older woman doesn't have much in common with a very young man, except sex.

i guess casual dating is ok, but a serious relationship? to me, the woman involved in a serious relationship of this type lacks emotional maturity and self-esteem....

just my thoughts... and you don't have to feel as i do... but i have two sisters in their 40's who are living with men who are in their 20's. neither sister has the sense god gave a duck, and are very immature for their ages...
