Go to a manufacturer's website, and look for drivers downloads - usually under SUPPORT.
Download most current drivers for your model, and follow installation instructions.

I think the DVD player may be referring to the Codec needed to decompress the video itself. There are hundreds of codecs out there and the nerds seem to use a different one every day just to annoy us. I really can't help because the Video Card driver should be okay if it has been okay before. Are you trying to use Media Player to play the DVD? If so, it will be a driver or codec MP needs. Just go to the disc supplied with DVD drive and play it. Install Power DVD or whatever DVD playing software came with the DVD Drive. Once installed, your problems should be over forever. Happy viewing.

Update the driver for the DVD or for the Video display card? In either case, you should be able to go to the manufacturer's web site and go to downloads and get the latest version.

First before you try to update the driver. Download a program called VLC. VLC plays videos better than any other application. This will determine if the problem is software related or driver related.

to update driver

1. right click my computer>properties>hardware tab>device manager

This application will list and give you control over all of the hardware on your computer

2. click plus sign next to "display adapters"
3. Note what model video card you have
4. find the website for the video card you have; locate and download the drivers for your model video card.

be sure to note where you download these drivers to on your computer.

5. install drivers. this is done 2 ways.
1. the drivers contain an exe file. most likely named Setup. double click this file and click next a few times. you are done.
2. from the device manager, double click your video card under display adapters.> click driver tab> click update driver>click bubble "install from a specific location">click next> now you will need to browse to the location of the drivers (note, if the drivers you downloaded are contained in a .zip file. you will need to extract the .zip file to a new location)>after browsing to the drives, click open, and next a few times.

Done!

good luck

Go to the web site of the maker of your card, make sure you know the model number of the card, they should have a driver set for it, just download and install according to any directions.
