Yeah - I know what you mean.

I find it hard to swallow when our so-called celebrities lecture us about saving the planet before dashing off in their limos or jetting off to another exotic location.

Having said that, it is important to do your part. We do have to make a start somewhere and the more socially unacceptable it becomes to waste resources, the less it will happen.

PS. Isn't it more economic to have a shower rather than a bath? or have I got that one wrong?

There are lots of ways to help the environment. Pick the ones that work for you. It sounds like, when you get your next car, you'd be interested in a very high gas mileage one. Great.

We don't have to stop doing things like traveling or taking baths to help the environment. We just need to do things thoughtfully. If everyone did that, we'd be a whole lot better off.

Your electricity bill will be reduced by between 60 and 20 % by turning off all the stand-bys in the house. Thats a good enough reason surely?

I believe it's the attitude that counts. More voices mean more power, making politicians helping us move our country in the right direction. I believe it is setting an example and sticking to principles that gets one further than making up excuses for being lazy... Sorry, nothing personal but this is my conviction. Set a convincing, rational example and others will follow.

It is dangerous.
Our toaster was off and a good thing we were home b/c our cat jumped on the counter and pushed the toaster handles down and it made marsh mellows go in the toaster and it burned and the smoke alarm went off.
For now on mom makes sure the toaster is unplugged, nothing is on top of the toaster and that our cat stays off the counter,

They are making planes fuel efficient now, and more and more people are driving smaller cars and trucks, and using other fuel sources. I don't know about you, but I want to live to be able to see my kids have a safe future here on earth.

Electric equipment still uses power when it is on standby so if you turn them off when not in use you can save yourself some money

even if you don't use it, it still uses electricity if you don't switch it off.
every year, switching those things off will save billions for the US, and help protect the environment since we have to burn less fuel to create electicity.
