I have a very nice friend (no really it's not me) who is having bad GI problems. She has recently moved here and doesn't have a regular doctor. The one she has seen so far was extremely brusque in his assessment and treatment and didn't want to send her to the hospital. What does she have to say to get him to admit her (she is seeing him tomorrow).

She needs to go to the hospital and seeing another doctor will take too long. She hasn't been able to eat hardly anything and has been to the emergency room three times where they just keep on giving her medicine. All the medicine she has been given prescribed makes the condition worse.

Everyone tells her it is no big deal. Well it is a big deal and she is getting worse. I am not asking whether or not she should try to get admitted to the hospital, I am asking HOW can she get admitted. What does she have to say to this guy to get him to realize she needs to go, and not brush her off like he did last time. What key words are effective? If you don't have an answer to this question then don't bother responding. I am not interested in whether or not some random stranger thinks this is a good approach to the problem or not.

No Doctor is going to admit your friend just because she or anyone else thinks that she should be Hospitalized. If she is unhappy with this Doctor, she should call the local Hospital and get the name of the Chairman of the Department of Gastroenterology, call his office and make an appointment ASAP

If the doctor assesses your friend and feels that she is not at all well then he should make the decision to admit her to the hospital. If your friend feels that the doctor is not to thorough and she is not happy with him.She should seek a second opinion else where.Your friend would know her own body if it is not well.Good luck

She should go to the ER. They will examine her, possibly more thoroughly than the doctor, and if she needs admitted, they'll admit her.
