I am 25 nearly 26 and am looking at changing jobs. I'm fed up working in an office and want a more exciting life. My friend has offered me a job as a fitters mate in a london based firm. I don't know whether i should do it or not. By the way I have an irrational fear of heights.

A sprinkler fitter is a good job and isn't too hazardous as far as construction site jobs go. There are the usual work safety issues (hard hats, height safety and all the things to look out for on a construction site), but generally safe.

Most sprinkler fitting happens after most of the structure is built and before the other systems are put in. The highest point you would probably have to install a sprinkler is inside a stairwell which can get quite high. But thats what scaffolding is for!
