my mom and i recently adopted 2 month-and-a-half old puppies. the lady who gave them to us said they were healthy and ate well, but ever since we brought them home theyve had diarea and wont eat much...well, they do eat, but they dont eat out of the bowl, but they eat the little bits spread out on the floor....whats up with that? and what can i do to stop the diareea?

Sounds like worms. Get them to the vet for their first shots and deworming. I have dogs take it out of the bowl put it on the floor and then eat it. Just little quirks.

If you are feeding him the correct food for a puppy and he is still sick, please take him to the vet asap because puppies, like human babies can dehydrate very quickly which can be fatal.
Actully at 6 weeks a puppy is still too young to leave his mother, a lot of people actually make the mistake of thinking the earlier you get a puppy the easier to train or easier to bond to, in fact, the longer a puppy is left with it's mother, the better the temperament and the healthier it will be because the mother has taught it valuable lessons about pecking order etc.
Also at 6 weeks of age,a puppy is still weaning from it's mum, should still be getting breast milk and having solids slowly introduced.
My guess is that the seller has sold them too early as a lot of breeders do because the quicker they get them sold, the quicker they can get their money, the quicker they can get the b.i.tch pregnant again with her next litter.
Take them to the vet. Thanks and good luck.

TAKE THEM TO THE VET!!! Maybe it is something simple like they need their food changed, but it could be serious. I wouldn't waste anytime. When I adopted my puppy he wouldn't eat from the bowl either (they will probably soon) and my dog had so many things wrong with him (the lady said he was perfectly healthy).
Just get them checked out
Good Luck

Severe diarrhea will cause the pups to dehydrate quickly. The dehydration will cause them to lose their appetite and not want to eat. I think you need to take them to the vet to find out what is causing the diarrhea. You can treat the diarrhea, but if you don't treat what is causing it the pups will get much worse. In the meantime make sure they get plenty of fluids. If their not drinking well, use a syringe to get water into them.
Hope this helps, good luck

at that age tehy need to be vaccinated and wormed. Take them to the vets
As far as teh way tehy eat it is probably the way tehy were fed. Put the food in teh bowl and they will eat from it when they get hungry.
Most important get them to the vets before you end up with Parvo

just to make sure its nothing serious take them to the vet. i had the same problem with my puppy but worse. what u do to stop the diarreah is cook plain rice or plain pasta and mix it with their normal food. that will help stop the diarreah. it worked with my puppy who was the same age as yours. its still good that the puppies still eat. wen my puppy was sick she had diarreah, vomitted, and couldnt even lift her head. we had to leave her at the vet and she was fed by a IV i think. uhh also for vomitting make sure they get water bc they lose alot of water from vomitting and diarreah and dogs dehydrate fast

take them to the vet. We all could give you suggestions, but the best thing to do would be to talk to the vet. Bring any papers you have on them and then you can find out exactly what is wrong, if anything. No guesswork involved on your part. The vet will also tell you exactly what to do.

Hi p_s_o_denial, puppies have delicate tummys and even a slight change of diet can do this. call the lady who gave you the puppies and ask specifically what their diet was. Then, try to get them on solid food.

it could be the parvo virus if they are vomiting and have diarhea
they could also have worms
the vet is the best person to answer your question.
