The smaller the Yorkie, the more expensive the medical problems. BYB and puppymillers breed for size not quality. Most tiny pups have chronic congenital health problems.

As previous posters have said, there really is no such thing as a teacup. Thats just a term that sellers use to describe their abnormally small size. Your yorkie is a regular yorkie and should have the same exact coat as any other yorkie. Your dog may just not have a very good coat, probably due to genetics and how it was inheritated by the parents.

I knew you where gonna catch hell for using the "teacup" phrase and I can't say I disagree w/ everyone not liking it, it's a missleading phrase used by some breeders. We have a 2 1/2 lb. Yorkie, he was an "only child" and TG he's very healthy, he's 11 years old right now. Only problem was he lost his tiny teeth in the front to early. As for the coat my GF says that's a hard question, they have all sorts of different types of hair, wire, smooth etc... Guess you'll have to research it a bit.

There is no such thing as a tea cup anything ! These animals are just the runts of the bunch. The runts are mated with other runts....which make baby runts. These baby runts are the "Tea cup" puppies. They are smaller in height and weight. As for the hair texture...this depends on the exact breed and on the parents.

No such thing as a teacup anything. This is a fad and a scam. If you paid a pet shop or breeder for a dog described as a teacup, chances are you paid well over the odds for a runt that may well have big health problems. Please get the poor creature checked by a vet and whatever you do, don't breed it!

there is no such breed as a tea cup yorkie or a miniature yorkie,,, there is one breed of YORKSHIRE TERRIER,, may i suggest you go to www.akc.org and read the breed standard for the Yorkshire Terrier,,, that , my friend, is what your dog should look like.... runts, smaller than standard yorkies,, are poorly bred by irresponsible breeders,, they usually are not healthy and have a host of other ailments..... stay clear from the scammers out there...

there is no such thing as a teacup or miniture tehy are runts and very often much sicker and have many health problems.
the hair could be either a health problem or just a vary poor quality pup which is very likely since breeders selling them as teacup and minitures are out for the money they don't really care about teh breeding.
Take the pup to the vets and get a really god check over.
